Angus and ear glue, tape

It does no harm to the dog, it's necessary for the show dog and a preference for non show dogs. It's also a preference for others to leave the ears as they are; prick ears, one up one down. It's your choice.
I agree completely, it isn't harmful to the dogs. Even so, if there is a standard of how Shelties look, shouldn't you be judging dogs that are not "helped" along? I have no personal stake in this, it just seems to me, if it doesn't matter to the judges how the dog ended up with tipped ears then why not remove it from the standard? You can't change genetics by taping.

Well, you'll have to ask them, good luck! Lol.

I have had Shelties with tipped and prick ears. I do prefer the softened look of the tipped ear. Just a preference I guess. Never showed in confirmation but did in Obedience. They certainly don’t care if the ears are tipped or not.

Doing searches for Ian's ears and found this :) While Spitfire and Sca were prong ears Angus was tipped and I never taped them so there is natural tipping.

Deacon couldn't decide which ear style he preferred so he has one of both. He has the thickest ear leather and they were a total pain to deal with. I think we gave up about 14 months. You'd never know he had taped ears for so long!
Well, I screwed up Angus's ears.

Lord only knows how Asher's ears will turn out. I feel this huge responsibility to the breeder to make sure he looks correct.
I feel responsible too. The breeder will find out, she won't mind so much I don't think. It was too hard to do Angus's ears. I made the mistake of using goo gone to get the glue out, he HATED the smell and I stopped using it but it was too late, he just wouldn't cooperate and Minnie kept ungluing the ears when they played, so I just gave up
