I agree completely, it isn't harmful to the dogs. Even so, if there is a standard of how Shelties look, shouldn't you be judging dogs that are not "helped" along? I have no personal stake in this, it just seems to me, if it doesn't matter to the judges how the dog ended up with tipped ears then why not remove it from the standard? You can't change genetics by taping.It does no harm to the dog, it's necessary for the show dog and a preference for non show dogs. It's also a preference for others to leave the ears as they are; prick ears, one up one down. It's your choice.
