Another Sheltie Angel

Either last night or early this morning, a friend lost her beloved Katie - Aberdale's Captivating Heart. This is Emma's great grandmother, Liam's great-great grandmother, and Natalie's grandmother. She was a beautiful dog, just over 14 years old. I see so much of her in Emma, not just their looks, but the look they have about them, a gentle soul, the far-seeing look in the eye, the gentleness that makes a good therapy dog.

We have lost so many of our precious friends over the past few days, weeks, and months. My friend lost her beloved heart-dog a little bit ago, and his son is now in congestive heart failure.

As I am typing, the tears are flowing, and I am asking myself - what will it be like with Emma, with Liam, and with Natalie when their time comes.

Hugs to all who are hurting tonight.

My heart goes out to your friend. Way too many losses in the past few weeks. :( What a sad time.

Oh Ronna, I'm so sorry to hear of your friend's loss. Tears are flowing. Prayers for you all!:hugs

So sorry to hear about the loss of your friend's old girl. Please let them know we are thinking of them.
As for losing your three, trust me, it never gets easy or easier. Personally, each time a decision has to be made for one of our dogs it has been harder for me then it was with the last dog and it is always me that has to make it. Hubby won't bring the subject up but he will give me his opinion when I ask. Ultimately though, it is me that has to make the decision on when to say goodbye. What I have learned is that if we give them the best life we are able to, try to be proactive in addressing their needs and health concerns and then be brave enough to let them go when the time comes, we can live with the fact that they have a much shorter time than us on this earth. Hopefully the time for you "kids" is far off in the future.

So sorry to hear about your friend's loss, Ronna. You're right, we have lost a lot of beloved Shelties recently.
