At the emergency vet - again

Dear St. Francis, Beloved Tully is so ill. Her little frame is so very fragile. You were fragile, too, and yet you persevered. Please lend Tully your Heavenly strength to weather this crisis. Reach out to Caro as she faces the pain of having a sick little one. Please ask the Good Shepherd to look upon this beautiful family at this, His special season, and grant his healing power to one of his precious creations.
In His name we ask,
Amen
Chris - thank you so much for this prayer ❤️

Things are pretty bad. All the little bones in her hock have collapsed, ligaments are gone. Even her good leg doesn't look great.

Tully does need surgery - and I know the specialist was going to say 'but'. I can't do that though, I can't lose her too. She's home now, sleeping off the sedation - after she barked at the other two for wrestling. Surgeon is going to call this afternoon and see if she can be fitted in for surgery tomorrow. God this heartache.

I just can’t fathom the heartbreak you must be feeling, Caro! I was just checking in to ask for an update and now this news. All I can offer is my sympathy and regret that you both have to go through such torment! Prayer and hugs being sent your way. I am so very sorry...
Is there any way a brace could help? I know I am grabbing at straws...

Ok, so had a chat with the surgeon. We are going to try to defer the surgery. Instead I will take Tully in for a brace/splint (and pain relief). Then the surgeon can consult with Tully's internal medicine specialist to work out a plan and also what the hell happened. Surgeon said the bones are shattered, and she's not sure why that happened. The surgeon (Dr Sarah) did ask about recent blood tests and was a bit concerned about some underlying medical issue that could be causing problems. Just to add to the list. Dr Sarah also said the other leg looks odd too so something is going on.

Plus I was kind of scared of losing her so close to when I lost Deska, not sure I could cope. Just hope I can manage the pain for that long.

Only problem atm is the splint was taken off for xrays (and because we thought she would have surgery tomorrow), and so now she hasn't peed because she keeps falling over. Tully will just not toilet with me holding her, even just holding her harness.

So I'm looking for ideas - what can I use to give her some independant mobility to move or to hold herself up to toilet (she also walks to toilet)? There's no way I can get a dog wheelchair at this time of year and even with the brace she will fall.
