Big Boy?

It'll end up like the axe I have that was originally owned by George Washington; the one he used to chop down the cherry tree. Of course it's had three new heads and four new handles since.

Perhaps the "standard" just needs to be expanded, rather than changed. Or maybe 2 categories of sizes, like the Beagles?

Thought I would update on Beau for fun (:

Yesterday he turned 6 months old and went to the vet to be neutered. He weighed in at 30lbs!
I can't get him to stand still long enough to measure, but when he walks past the coffee table his shoulders are about an inch higher.

So that would put him at 30 lbs, 20 1/2 inches at 6 months old.

Are you sure you didn't get a collie??

It's no secret that I love the bigger shelties. My first one was probably 17-18" or more, but I will never know because I never actually measured her. I can definitely tell you she was taller than Missy, who is 16". I love the Shelties on the other end of the scale too, but I do prefer the taller ones.

I call him a Collie haha, his parents are Shelties though ^^
Looking at group pictures of his littermates he looks to be the biggest and his head was much bigger than the rest of the pups as well.
I love that he is big, I like bigger dogs but my Mother would never had agreed to a larger breed. I had multiple Shelties growing up and they were all smaller boned and on the smaller/average end.

I have some pictures, the first was from around the 14 week mark and then rest are him older and up to a few days ago:

Wow!:eek2: I jokingly call collies 'big sheltie' (got the idea from one of our members:winkgrin:), but they look about the same size from what I'm seeing here.

You have a big un! I have a shollie too, pedigree is sheltie but he is 20" 44 lbs.... And gorgeous, smart, affectionate and funny!
