actually have never heard the saying 'it's a dog's breakfast'...
is it an Aussie thing?

I just thought it was a universal saying. Maybe it's British? It's pretty common in AustraliaIt's something that should be better organised but is a chaotic mess. Things like essays (teacher's love using it for school work) or events, or anything the government does, or some company that's falling apart.
Maybe because a dog's breakfast starts out looking nice when we put it down, but if you've got a big dog like a Lab it ends up everywhere. Obviously our Shelties are not messy at all
