Can anyone recommend a super vacuum cleaner?

Well, thanks everyone!
We have a cordless Shark which is fabulous but hair clogs the spinning roller brush and I was considering the Shark Pro. They make good products and service is fantastic.
I'll look into the Dysons also. Good idea on the scrub brush too. How elegantly simple! :yes:I'm pretty sure Shadow's thick coat will end up on the carpet pretty soon!

You might want to check Woot.com or other daily deal sites for Dysons. I got a refurbished Dyson with a full warranty for a fraction of the price for new. It's been a blessing between Max & Fred.

This house came with an older central vaccuum system. Never wanted one before but now it's the only thing I would ever have again. Used to hate vaccuuming the animal hair off the furniture and stair runners. Not a problem now. It is cumbersome I'll admit but I'm less fatigued now then I was doing a house half the size of this one with a portable cleaner.

I love my Dyson Animal. This past weekend Shelby threw her ball in front of it and I actually sucked up her ball! It got stuck in the beater and hubby had to take the vacuum apart to get it out.

That is what I have and I LOVE having central vacuum. Not as loud, powerful, and convienant. There is no dust in the air. I use mine instead of a broom because it is so convienant and do all my hardwood and kitchen linoleum with the central vacuum.

I was wondering how the small one does!! I have hardwoods/tile here and have the dyson animal ball...it sucks the fur towards it on the hardwoods/tile where other vacuum cleaners would blow it into corners...Ive had mine over 5 years now and its going great!! They say dont take it apart of wash it...but I wash the inside out every 6 months atleast...just the dirt that gets packed on the sides is disgusting!!! I usually wash it when I know its going to be warm so I leave it out and let it dry really well! I need a new vacuum as my one down in the dog room kinda died last week (it was a funny smell followed by smoke and stopped picking stuff up!:lol:lol)..and I hate hauling the vacuum up and down a flight of stairs!

The shark will not do that. The rolling tumble weeds of fur on the hard wood, will not move or blow away from you when you use it on the floor setting. It just sucks it up.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. I swear by my old Tristar Vacuum cleaner.

They're similar to Filter Queens in that they're made to last and can be repaired for a reasonable amount of money if should parts wear out.

Mine is circa 1986-89 and my Mom bought her's new in 1985 and they're great for both carpets and floors. They do occasionally need things like new wheels or a new part for the carpet attachement and you do need to buy bags, but these costs are minimal.

New they can cost over $1000 but you can get a used one for $200-$300 and like I said, they last a lift time.

Wow, that Shark Professional Navigator looks great. We have a Dyson now (not the pet one, though, nor one of the ones with the roller ball), and it does fairly well... but it is very heavy. I can't carry it up/down the stairs. We got it refurbished for a very reasonable price (for a Dyson), but not nearly as reasonable a price as that Shark is brand-new!

Woot is a great site to watch for vacuums. Another good site to check is Overstock.com. They usually have pretty good prices (and that's where we got our Dyson).
