Chronic tummy problems

Thanks for checking in Caro, we've all been thinking of you. With the holidays it just kind of tends to amplify emotions, anyway. I think about you every single day and know it is wrenching to be without Deska. You did all in your power to help him. I hope fashioning the memorial to him will help you heal a bit. It's so nice all your neighbors were paying their respects to what was obviously a very loved dog. :hugs

Thank you all.

Still trying to manage, waking up in the morning without a Deska kiss and cuddle is heart breaking.

Both Tully and I are feeling bored and lonely. Deska was such a huge presence, and had such a short attention span. He also didn't sleep much, instead he was on constant alert, if he wasn't wanting pets and cuddles he was barking at something. I guess after 12 years I got used to it and now I notice how boring life is without him. Tully too has been lonely. She's been going crazy when we run into other dogs, crying and barking and spinning - usually she has no interest. Yesterday she didn't even want to go to the oval to play ball, instead she wanted to walk around the townhouses. There's no barking when people come to the door or walk past the house. On walks Tully is much happier but then she tries to copy Deska naughty things - she chased a bicycle, barked at trucks, even pretended to try chase a car. She's going to find it very hard when I start going out without her.

Friday and Saturday were busy. About half a dozen people in my street, who had known Deska since puppyhood, came around to offer condolences. I have lots of pot plants now. Deska was soooo friendly, cheeky and gentle and was the reason I got to know so many people in my neighbourhood. It's hard to convey how popular Deska was, how many friends he had. I haven't managed to contact everyone yet, but I guess they will notice me walking with just Tully. It's a shame we don't have funerals for pets because I'm sure Deska's would be well attended.

When the hospital rang to say the crematorium would be picking him up soon I felt so sick, I thought my heart was being wrenched out I didn't want them to take my baby boy away. I really thought, if ever a spirit could come back it would be Deska, but he's really not here.
Thinking of you both in these sad times for you
