If you live in a cold weather climate, there is no more liquid version. It all turns solid under 75 degrees. I keep mine in a glass jar now (the plastic one melted!) and put it in the microwave on low for one minute.

yes, it's a real weird consistency... good that the cats love just eating it, as is...
But for the dog I melt some in microwave and mix it in with his food, he doesn't really like it all that much and won't eat it in natural form.

I stopped using it because of the consistency. It was so thick and pasty it was not easy to put into the dogs food. Bacca just ate around it.

That being said, son and I are enjoying its use on our skin.

I'm just getting over a bad patch of excema which I'm still on steroids for. Starting tomorrow, I'm going to try the coconut again to keep my skin hydrated.

And doing the dog dance as both dogs will be back to licking my legs as soon as I put it on.

My dog still eats it when it's hard and has a waxy texture. My dog would probably eat cardboard if I put it in her bowl.

You can microwave it for a few seconds to melt it if it is too hard for your dogs.

I spoon the CO in his stainless dish, set it next to the coffee pot while I brew and that melts it. After my cuppa, its melted and ready to stir in the kibbles.
The label on my jar of co, says just warm it in the palm of your hand and let your dog lick it up... Hmmm, might have to try that.

Will ask at the dog supply store about a good joint product for a young dog.

I give my dogs about a teaspoon of it in their food. It's really been helping not only their skin and coat, but also my oldest dog joints. It's a very good suppliant and would really help your dogs skin. I've never heard of putting it on the skin it self though. I'll tell you one thing, you'd have quit the mess to clean up! I don't recommend you doing that at all!

I THINK after about 3 or 4 days I noticed my oldest dog had more energy and less pain when trying to get up on wood floors. I think it took about a week (maybe more maybe less, I can't say for certain) for their skin and coat to start to benefit from it. I've been out for about a week now and have been using a skin and coat liquid supplement. I had almost thrown it away when I started using coconut oil, and now I almost wish I had! It's not very good. F-kap is always tired everyday now and looks to be in pain, and all the dogs coats are very harsh and not very pretty anymore (except Ida's her fur is still puppy soft). Yes, shelties fur is usually a little harsh, but this is just awful! I'll be getting more tomorrow.

Thank you! My sheltie has been doing much better! His fur is so soft right now, and I notice that he doesn't scratch himself that much now. I try rubbing a tiny bit of coconut oil on him to sooth those extremely dry area. It wasn't that messy, and his skin took it in very quickly. I did that at night. I saw Burts Bees has a balm for canine dry skin, so I was like maybe coconut oil works as well. I think it did, just very very little would do.

I just wanted to add to this thread. I started using coconut oil for my dogs as Celtic has some stomach issues. I didn't read to start slow and up it but started at 1/2 tsp for the pup and 1 tsp for the adults.

No issues at all. In fact, everyone has the firmest poos they have had for awhile. The best effect in just 4 days is Justice who is almost 12 is getting around better, in an overall better mood and his breath smells 500% better and his stomatitis which had flaired a bit is back under control.

So far very happy with it and all the dogs love it
