Colonel Underpants: The New Chapter

These things happen.... Gavin stitches popped on his thigh and we had to get bandage changes every 2-3 days for weeks as there wasn't enough skin to re-stitch (now if the suture was THAT tight I don't understand why no one told me that it was extremely fragile. I got normal discharge notes just saying no jumping or running) . It delayed our start of radiation.

I think we all need more pictures in the suit :)

Happy Valentine's Day Beckon!!!!

I've decided not to go to the second rehab place. I think we can do just fine with the home PT exercises and no underwater treadmill. If he were having trouble managing, I'd feel differently, but he's tearing around all over the place. The stairs and hill build core strength along with the exercises.

the only exercise the pt vet did i couldn’t replicate at home was underwater treadmill (which gavin refused to do anyway). the bosu is great btw. can be flipped for a balance board.

we do hills instead of an incline treadmill. we have a bike bridge over the freeway that works for that.

We've decided not to pursue the swimming option. He's doing so well. I'll get a picture of Colonel Underpants turning into a puddle of bliss during his daily physical therapy and massage. He's still not great going up stairs, but that will come as we strengthen the remaining hind leg and core. He gets a daily walk with DH down the driveway hill, over the the neighbor's field, up a hill, then down the hill and up the driveway. The PT tech told us that hills help build the core, which doesn't really happen on the flat walks. Also, we sit/stand/down repetitions to build core strength. Soon we'll do them on a couple of pillows. The wobble effect builds strength, too.

Now that I gotta see!!!

So happy he is out and about and doing so well!

We salute you, COMMANDER Underpants!
You need an upgrade in command for being a wounded warrior!

I have found that Gavin does 1 step really well, 2 not so much. So his stairs to the couch are big enough for him to stand on to re-adjust for his next hop.
looking forward to the puddle of bliss :)
