Color Discrimination

I grew up with a male sable but Megan is Tri! When I knew I wanted a Sheltie I knew I wanted either Sable or Tri! But of course there all gorgeous.

I heard this recently too..I think it was on the Bonnie Hunt show..LOL
I have a bi black..and believe me..them eyes are intense!!
The only issue I have..is she has no white on her face, so its hard to get a good picture of her..her eyes either glow green or don't show up at all..but thats prolly more a me problem then her problem..LOL

Our bi-black is the same way, he has intense, beautiful eyes, but with no white on his face they never photograph well!

My first ever Sheltie some 35 years ago was a Tri and was the last in the litter, and I got him free because no body else wanted him because everybody wanted the little Lassie. My first Tri Sheltie was the best ever, and now today I have two Tri's and one Sable. My Sable is noticed before the Tri's when they are all together, but the Tri's are so unigue in their color, I will always have the Tri's.

Temperament and personality are my first consideration in a pup, because I want a dog that will be comfortable in all kinds of situations. However, if I were choosing based on color alone, my next pup will probably be a bi-black or bi-blue.

I only liked the sable because they are little lassies! That was until I met my tri girl. I love the color of her. I totally agree that my sable has melty eyes and my tri has intense eyes.

Now I can't stop thinking about getting a blue. Then I will have one in every color -- almost :smile2:

since luna is black and jake is a sable merle, i would have to say a blue merle would look nice with them. But personality is always most important. It doesn't matter what color they are if they have a bad personality.

My entire family were sable snobs until Fluffy came along. My mom has actually said to me, "When I looked at her I knew from the start I wasn't going to like her just because she was a tri colored sheltie. Boy was I wrong!"

A sheltie is a sheltie to me. I don't care about color, or if it is a boy or a girl. I think Smudge and Fluffy are both good fits for me.

I really don't even know that I have a favorite color. :eek2: I don't like tri or bi blacks with a lot of white on them, and I like the darker sables with a nice blaze on them.

Size doesn't matter, either. Smudge is a nice sized sir at 17 and 1/4 inches. Fluffy is only 6 months, but I really don't think she is going to get as big as Smudge. She's only about 12 and 1/2 inches now.

I like a dog with a sense of humor. :biggrin2:
