Crochet for pets!

Smudge

Forums Sage
I have been thinking, ever since I ordered that hat for Smudge, about learning how to crochet. I see really nifty looking dog toys all the time that are crochet.

Does anybody else crochet things for their dogs, and if so, do you have any websites you would reccomend that has maybe dog inspired crochet things? Is it hard to do?

I just keep thinking of all the cool things I could make for my dogs. :biggrin2: I could crochet a dog blanket, clothes, scarves, toys, ect.

My sister is an avid crocheter and she recommended I go to lionbrand.com they are a yarn company and have all kinds of learning videos, free patterns, and a section for pets with some really cute things you can make. have fun!!!

Thanks so much! That site has a lot of free patterns for dogs. I think I will start with a blanket though. It is flat and not too complicated. I am going into hobby lobby Wednesday anyway so I might look and see what they have. :biggrin2:

I taught myself to crochet last October and now I love it!:smile2: It takes a little time to get the hang of the stitches, but once you do you are away. My first project was a scarf for Cadbury that he wore for the Christmas party at training club.

Most of my stuff comes from books, so can't really advise on websites. But I have seen a dog coat pattern in the local wool shop. So there are plenty of patterns around.

Enjoy yourself Jessica!

Crochet ball

I just got Ginger a crochet ball at the Farmer's Mkt on Saturday.

She loves it. It's her cat side, she bats it, but also chews on it. I'm surprised at its durabillity. It's still all together.

My grandmother was an Avid crocheter She would be watching Tv and her fingers would be flying! She made all sorts of stuff for us as kids. I still have some of it in our cedar chest. I wish I had learned before she died since I need someone in person to teach me because im left handed I have to figure out how its done righty and than flip it so it works for me. Knitting was enough of a challenge for me!!

My sister was left-handed and did a lot of crocheting in the past. I am not sure if she learned left-handed or if mom taught her to do it right-handed. My feeling is that mom told her she had to learn right-handed if she wanted mom to teach her.

MMM here,

RUN SMUFF! RUN FAST!! HIDE!!! She is going to dress you in crocheted stuff!

SHE WILL MAKE YOU WEAR THOSE LITTLE PONCHO'S FROM THE 70's!

HIDE!!!

I think, after looking at the materials list, that I will start off with a scarf instead. I don't have ANY of the materials, and if I bought all of the materials I needed for a nice sized blanket it would cost me about $100. :uhoh:

The scarf I found is Smudge sized and will cost about $6 to make. :biggrin2:
