Crying triggers

It's not that easy to make me cry but as the 1 year mark of losing my beloved mare Kassy approaches I find myself clenching. I really don't understand why I am still so fragile when it comes to her. I've loved and lost so many furry friends over the years but Kassy hit me hard and continues to cause ups and downs. Tinsel has helped a lot as I've had to focus on him so much. Maybe it is because of how fast and unexpected it was, or maybe because she was part of my life for over 22 years. All I know is that lately, when I pass a farm with a horse that is similarily coloured, my eyes well up and I feel her loss all over again.

I haven't really gotten over the loss of our first Sheltie Skye in 2003. Maybe some special ones just have that effect on us? I really try to remember the good times but it's that last few bad months that haunt me. We tried so hard to help her as her kidneys stopped working - she really showed us she wanted to keep going, but it was brutal. I was emotionally devastated.

I think anniversaries are especially hard. I hate the end of August for that reason.

ughhh,, ll this thread makes me thinkof the winter to come , where Boston wont be there to to lay flat on the deck in the first snowfall of the year.. he loved that coldness on his belly,, and melted everything under him ,, lol. im only 3 months in since his departure,, and everything reminds me of him...

crying trigger

Next month will be the 4th anniversary of our Shelby's passing. We have lost a number of fur kids over the years but Shelby's passing affected me greatly. From the age of 2 when he was diagnosed hypothyroid with terrible allergies he was never completely healthy. His last few days were awful, but he bravely went on. When his gallbladder ruptured we knew it was time as he had suffered more than any fur child should. I still cry everytime I look at his picture, feeling there was more we could have done but knowing there wasn't. Our daughter was married a week before his passing so August is a bitter sweet month for me.

Feeling the pain of loss

I lost my Kenna girl in February of 2011 who was 10, then on Memorial Day weekend of 2012, my little Duncan, age 11 years, left me too. My husband and I were in shock and my heart is still broken. Duncan was my special soul mate, who saw me through some of the darkest days of my life. Losing him has been quite difficult. His photo is attached.

Now we have our sweet Quinn, who is helping to heal us. But the special corner of my heart where I hold my dear ones is so empty. Someday, I hope to be able to think of them without hurting.

K
