Dams Sheltie Teeth!

So I used the sonic teeth scaler thing....His teeth improved with all the brushing and treats but there was still some issues with his molars. With a lot of regular brushing, Pico has become a pro at it (no burrito required).

Well, it does work. Just not like the videos you see LOL. takes quit a while (Pico was not happy, and seemed to tolerate maybe 10 seconds at a time before he needed a break and extra snuggles). Pico was soo cute that he wanted snuggles in between the short sessions.

It works better on heavier tartar/calculus. The lighter stuff takes more time and repeated tries. The sound wasn't too bad, honestly. There was a light on it which probably didn't help. Maybe I will try covering his eyes. I did try an earband over his ears but I think it was too tight as Pico was lightly moaning.

Overall, a good investment. Not a replacement for regular brushing. But definitely a good thing to keep his molars looking good

I'm not sure I'm coordinated enough to video a session.
But the noise was a lot less than I expected. not nearly like us going to the dentist, kinda like a high pitched whistle sound (sharp but not full)

I bought this ultrasonic cleaner and am really happy with it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CZS198PW?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 Brodie collects tartar on his molars and canines and it seems to clean them quickly. Is he happy with it? Not thrilled, but allows it. Deacon is another story adn won't allow me to touch his mouth - thank goodness his teeth stay clean.

I also use these finger brushes https://www.amazon.com/dp/B098SXQF65?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1&th=1 with this toothpaste from Black Sheep Organics - it is a TINY bottle but uses very little and I think works better than any toothpaste I have tried. https://www.blacksheeporganics.com/en-us/products/blacksheep-organics-toothpaste-for-dogs

I’m going to give this a try…tried to find it anywhere but Amazon…unfortunately sometimes they are the only option. But at least it’s made in China!
I think Finnie and maybe Blueberry would allow this, Piper absolutely not…I’d have to sedate him first :ROFLMAO:.

I actually didn’t know there were ultrasonic cleaners for dogs! I wish Piper would allow this as he can’t chew his bones anymore but he’s incredibly sensitive around that jaw now. I’m curious to how Finne responds because as the most nervous dog I have he’s also the most allowing of things that make noise around his head. Blueberry is a toss up….lol

Try the toothpaste I posted on Finnie. It is Made in Canada!!! :) Absolutely the best toothpaste I've ever tried and I have a slew here... it's organic and peppermint and the dogs actually love it - Deacon does not like me brushing his teeth... he prefers my husbands personal Sonicare which hubby will not share! They don't like the pet flavored toothpastes at all. LOL! But, GREAT toothpaste. The finger toothbrushes I posted are not your typical, really hard plastic scrubbies, they are soft with bristles all around, quite gentle and you can soften them up even more by soaking in warm water first.

I did find a local store that sells the products Sandy so I will definitely try the toothpaste! With the shipping charge being the same cost as the toothpaste I didn’t see myself ordering this so this is great I can do a 20 minute drive and find it!
