Dams Sheltie Teeth!

Pico let me try again last night so must not have been too traumatizing!
Still not a fan, still a snuggler. Didn't try and get away from me, just wanted hugs.
definitely easier if you have 2 people, as trying to snuggle Pico and do this at the same time is a but ergonomically challenging

I can imagine….when I am drying Blueberry after a bath she will attempt to climb up me (from the grooming table). It looks sweet but she’s really only attempting to get away from the blower, she’s very smart! lol

Pico does this as well. he will even jump into my arms.
looks super cute but isn't really a show of love as much as trust and 'help me!'

So Pico has decided electric bikes are EVIL. and the pedestrian bridge is a trap for them to corner him so he can't get away.
It is very curvy and tall so he can't even see them coming from head on (hell, I can't most of the time)
If I see them in time, I have him sit and he is pretty good.
If I don't, poor guy....he barks and lunges (I do not feel bad for those cyclists going so fast on a pedestrian walkway)
anyway, he will leap into my arms on that bridge!
He just sits there on my arms, he isn't shaking or anything just hyper alert.
I am not holding on to him (my arms are not around him, he kinda perches on top of my arms).

fun aside......
there is a walking gym we go by (random permanent exercise equipment).
One is a back extension. I use Pico as weight and bend over with him in my arms.
A nice normal cyclist saw us and had a huge grin on his face!

regulations have taken time to catch up, but electric bikes and scooters are supposed to have a speed limiter to be allowed on bike paths in CA. but who is gonna enforce that? and how, impound a kids e-bike? I try and avoid school starting hours cause there are lots of kids going from the train station to a local school, but there are also people going from the train station to work at oracle so I can't win!

Oddly enough, Pico didn't used to have such an issue. Or maybe no school in summer made me think he didn't (and then we walked later in the morning cause I wasn't working). He does great walking along the city streets with cars and such. he does fine with regular bikes on the open bike path. this morning I let him sit and watch one of the entrances for a smaller bridges for over a minute. he was sure a bike was gonna come from there.

Pico is not a fan of our exercises LOL, but he does like playing with me when I am working out in my little home gym.

I don't blame Pico!!!!

I wanted an electric bike for a while a few years back - hills on our riding paths in New England are too much for me - but are supposed to be outlawed on most of the paths we walk anyway.

Brodie reacts to bikes period. I think they are unknown, make strange noises and fly by most often with no warning. And those electric bikes, they have quite a uber high pitch whine to them.... so many things to be afraid of. I think if he had access to one to check out on his time, slowly, and have the bike move slowly as he was getting comfortable with it, building up his confidence and reducing his anxiety over it, he'd be better with bikes. Problem is, shelties don't ever forget, so after that first scare...

I must say the ultrasonic cleaner Sandy had recommended works amazing. I should’ve taken a before picture! Blueberry had a fair bit of tartar along her upper canines (I tried to do the bottom’s after but she’d had enough for now) and it was literally flaking off! She didn’t balk at the noise at all…this one makes a squeaking noise only when the tip is touching the tooth and it didn’t bother her at all. I tried it with Finnie last night and he was ‘ok’ with it…it wasn’t charged enough and I had the wrong sized tip on it…I’ll work on them today but I’m very impressed!
I took pictures of the after…the bit of tartar on the one canine I used the scraper to remove.IMG_8263.jpeg IMG_8262.jpeg
