Darla's broken leg

I put Darla on my prayer list for a total healing.

ps If puppies are like children, when they are younger they heal way faster.

pps Please give Darla a hug from me, thanks.

i am so sorry you and Darla are going through this.
This is such a trying time.
I hope she comes through with flying colours, keep us updated on the poor little dear

Sorry to hear of Darla's bumpy recovery. Hang in there. Sorry to hear about your dear rat, too. Prayers for you all. :hugs

Oh my, this is a horrible situation. All I can say is hang in there and hopefully you will be able to put this behind you sooner rather than later. Healing thoughts sent your way.

My main concern at the moment is Darla having to 'circle the runway' before she wees or poos. I'm worried at the strain this is putting her leg under. I've tried taking her out on the leash to limit her movement but when she realises she cannot circle she just sits down and looks at me. She hasn't gone for a wee for 12 hours now as I'm not letting her circle.

Am I doing more harm than good to her? I don't know what to do.

I am so sorry you both are going through this.i personally think they should have just put a cast on her. sometimes you do know best. I left my vet of 11 years because I argued with him and his staff over giving max thyroid meds? He was a rescue and shire enough the next vet said he was hypothyroid!!!! Which was a relief for many reasons, foe my Max and me it wasn't easy leaving my vet!

I am so sorry to hear this. I know how you feel. Our angel Hollie fell down our steps and dislocated her shoulder. Took her to the ER vet and had a bad experience. They asked me how I would like them to fix it! Being an OR nurse I know that in humans we just put it back in place so that is what I suggested and they did. When we picked her up they did not have her leg immobilized properly and would not give me pain meds (said she was fine).

A few hours after being home she was out of her bandage yelping in pain. Called the ER and they told me she was fine & call my vet in AM. Well sure enough she re dislocated and when my vet called the ER asking them too have the ortho vet see her asap they refused and said I should have left her there overnight if we wanted to see ortho. My vet was livid!! Ended up taking her to a specialist an hour away who did put her shoulder back in place, put her in a cast so she would not dislocate again! She was very upset with our local ER vet.

I knew deep down that the ER vet didn't know what they were doing and I wish I was more demanding that they do everything right. I felt just as you do. We really often do know what is best for our pups and it is a shame that sometimes no one will do what we think is best.

I hope that Darla heals quickly and has a quick recovery.

Can you keep her on the leash and circle the runway with her, walking with her slowly? Maybe she will still go pee-pee for you this way.

ps Pogo, the dog we watch, I walk this way in the yard. I have Pogo on a leash, and he likes to circle. We walk around in a large circle and Pogo goes right away.
