Deciding on euthanasia is horrible

Thank you again for this thread. After letting Toby go to heaven to night, i am rereading it and it brings me great comfort.

My heart goes out to you and your family at this incredibly difficult time.

It is the ultimate gift of love you gave to your beloved Toby, we know he now waits for you at rainbow bridge.

My hope and prayer to you is in time the fond memories Toby will overtake the sadness you now feel.

Please read the new Sheltie Nation Angels page for many wonderful and heartfelt poems that may help.
If you decide to post dear Toby on the Angels page I will most certainly light a candle for him.

Blessings to you and your family. Virtual hugs. :hugs

I feel for you. I recently had to put down my 14 year old Lucy. She had eaten very little for three days so I took her to the vet thinking there was a problem with her teeth. It turned out that she had a tumor on her spleen that had ruptured, and she was essentially bleeding out. The vet recommended euthanasia. It is such a terrible decision to make, especially when they look at you with such love and trust, and you want desperately to just grab your dog and run out of there. But you hold it together and think about what is best for your baby. Lucy passed very gently in my arms. I was really lucky to have her for 14 years.

- it was exactly the way I lost my beloved GSD the night from October 28 to 29 - So exactly a year ago.

I was not prepared, I drove to the animal hospital late in the evening when I could see she was in pain, and was very, very tired, but she had eaten quite normal.

I also thought it was just a formality and we would return home, but it became without her.

So I had to drive home at 2 o'clock in the night, it is the worst trip I've ever driven - I was so terribly unhappy.

She was only 9½. :hugs
