Diary of a Mad Housedog: Ellie's post board and train

That really sounds awesome! Congratulations for your hard work, consistency and diligence. Ellie is lucky to have you!

That's amazing and with all those distractions! Bailey still has issue with dogs, joggers, kids bouncy balls and bicycles. We are working on it...

Thank you everyone! I feel really good now about the progress we have all made. She still tests her limits, but I imagine that will continue for awhile. The thing I have to work on is to look forward to how far we have come rather than focusing on what she still does wrong. Her "good" is ten fold better than her "bads." I think she will be an excellent obedient pup with her sassy personality intact.

Once again, Ellie's senstivity amazes me. My husband's elderly aunt and uncle came to visit at our house. His unlce is recovering from hip surgery and is very unbalanced. Ellie was sweet, gentle, and respectful. She was calm and dignified. She wagged her tail and quickly sniffed pantlegs and then layed close by but never bugging anyone. She never tried to jump on on them at the door and when we walked them to the door for goodbyes, Ellie stopped at the carpet/tile edge (where she has been trained to stop) and waged her tail goodbye and never tried to go any further. She did not have a leash or collar on. She was absolute perfection.

you must feel great about that- what a good girl

I like that idea of having stop at a certain point when you answer the front door. I need to work on that with Zak. Especially since I have older parents and they both like to greet them. This is a very good idea, wonder why I did not think of it before.

It is the hardest thing we have ever taught her. I ought to get a medal for my patience!
