Diva's rally video

Thanks for sharing the video! It was very interesting and fun to watch. Thirty years ago I competed in obedience, but had never seen rally, so that was really interesting.

When they are sitting in front of you and you want them to walk around behind you and get into the heel position, is that command, "finish?" I can't remember.

Finish is the command the judge tells you to do in obedience following the front. I use the word "around" for the right finish or walk around behind me and I use "heel" for the left finish. Some people use "swing" or "over" for the left finish. A few people use finish but since that is what the judge says not alot of people say that because they don't what the dogs to go on the judges command.

I used the same commands. "Around" for a right finish and "heel" for a left finish.

I am confused on right finish and left finish--lol--I mean I know my right from my left, but I am not sure how they are being used here. If the dog is sitting in front of you and you want him to sit at your left--is that left finish? So he would have to walk completely behind you and sit at your left leg?

For both right and left finish, your dog should end up on your left side, sitting in heel position (next to your left leg and facing in the same direction as you). The difference is how they get there.
For a right finish, your dog will walk towards your right side, continue to walk behind u or "around" you till she gets to your left leg, facing forward and sits down.
For a left finish, your dog will walk towards your left side and just spin around till she is facing forward and sit next to you.

Gosh, now I remember. The judge says, "Finish your dog." Man, it've been over thirty years for me.

The watching of Diva's Performance

Nice video. Good girl, Diva. Actually, I have never seen Rally before so it was really interesting to me.

I couldn't believe how Ainsley stood by my chair while I was watching and watched Diva's entire performance! I wonder if that means that she wants to be a Rally dog, too.

Mally sat on my lap and watched Diva's 6-minute Performance Video, as well. Congratulations, Diva and Dr. Shelli

She's cute! I especially liked her stand-stay in RA, that looked so crisp!
Can't wait to get back to the rally ring someday, it is such a nice looking sport, especially the way Diva and you does it!
