Does colour define temperament?

don't ever buy a puppy from a pet store!!! And please understand that these are great people on here with good advice. In no way do they look down upon you just because you are learning. You are in the right place to get top advice. The Sheltie is a very special dog. There's a lot to learn if they are new to you as a breed. I'm 73 and I have a doctorate but I am still learning too. Everyone here is here to help and for help to keep our wonderful dogs healthy and happy. big HUGS to all
I won't ever buy another pup from Petland.ever again. We love Luke but he didn't deserve being enclosed in a plastic viewing box for 8 months and he didn't deserve the physical problems poor breeding gave him. But we will take the best care of him from here on out he'll know love

This comment maybe in the wrong place, if so I apologize:

I have had various colors of shelties in my lifetime, but I have never felt that I have owned one because they are family. Miss April was a Blue Merle, She was given to me by a breeder when she was 5 years and was the most gentle and loyal animal I have ever met, she went with me every where including work and lived till she was 17 years old. Dewey came next from the pound he was black and white who had severe issues from being hit by his former owner. With major home adjustments he lived his best life and held the record of going to basic obedience class 9 times but he had fun. He lived till he was 12 years. Teddy is my current companion and is sweet and very much the gentleman. Who protects his home from service technicians that come to the house.

After saying all the above,I believe that the Shelties temperament is greatly influenced by their surroundings and the training and love they receive. I don't ever remember meeting a mean or viscous Sheltie

Your dogs have been blessed to have lived in your home! I've had everything but a Blue Merle, can't say I've noticed any characteristics tied to color. They are all individuals although sometimes one will remind us of one that has passed.
