Does your Sheltie go nuts when you return

Bailey goes nuts when I get home from work. I actually recorded it last week. It's just 5 minutes of wiggle butt, jumping, barking, rolling on the carpet.

She's even excited to see me when I leave her 5 seconds. I think she likes me :wink2:

My Danny Boy looks for his dads return home from work every evening. When he sees his truck or the headlights he first has to let out some loud barks and spins and then he comes to let me know he is home. When dad gets in the house Danny does zoomies and you had better look out or get run down.

Normally Sca just wants frisbee/tennis ball and then screams FOOD ME! but when I come back from the track (couple days) he is just so excited and goes nuts (then crashes later). Totally out of control which he is normally the opposite.

Yes, it often seems when I get home like there are sheltie bodies flying through the air, bouncing off of walls and furniture and often knocking me down, lol.

The longer I'm gone the more craziness when I get home. :biggrin2:

Imagine if the people in your life greeted you the same way every time you returned home?

Sometimes it depends on how long I have been gone. Maggie when she was younger would get up on the bed and jump up and down like a fish. Now she is just excited and some times play bows to us.
Zak does not go to crazy but there are times when he is so happy to see me and wants hugs. When Mark and I go out and come back he is always looking for me if Mark goes in the door first and then waits to get happy. Funny how they all can be so different.

Dad tells me that he hasn't even been able to see my truck coming along our street but the two dogs know I'm almost home and start going crazy and barking like mad. It doesn't matter which way I come up to the house.

There must be something wrong with me. The sheltie chaos when I get home is unnerving. I don't find it enjoyable at all. Meggie barks incessantly and Cooper literally throws his body at me. Lottie Jean is the only civil one, she barks a few times and does her best to jump on me, which is equivalent to about 3" off the ground. She always makes me smile.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy they're glad to see me, but they're so out of control that there is no way to calm them down. Once they've gone outside they all settle down, but those first few minutes are very stressful for me.

BTW, when it was just Meggie she would wiggle her rear end uncontrollably and jump on me a bit, but she never did this constant barking until I got the other dogs.

I am with you Suzie. I like them to be happy to se me but I could do without the barking and body slamming:mad:.

When Justice was the only sheltie he never barked. Now they all bark like crazy it has gotten so bad with the noise that I have gone back to boot camp on the barking. Justice throws his body against me and Diva last week nipped me in the calf(she used to do this as a baby).

So this week, instead of going immediately to them to let them out. I put all my stuff away, change clothes and then wait for them to sit before I open the baby gate. I say quiet and open the door and then we go to the door in peace. Anybody barks or jumps on me , I ask for a down and we don't continue until everyone is calm. After they come in and I sit down then we have a petting free for all. I hated to be this strict but seriously the barking was out of control. Since I went back to basics the barking is down 90%.

I was feeling like a freak there for a minute. It's nice to see that there is someone else who doesn't particularly enjoy the chaos! Perhaps I should take a cue from you and get back to the basics with them.

Yes I get the nutso barking, spinning, licking and wacking the front window.

So I leave a box of squeaky toys next to the door, that way Deska picks up a toy and squeaks his greeting and that seems to reduce Tully's silliness as well. It's nice being greeted by happy squeaks rather than worrying the window is going to break.
