Donation assistance for rescued CA shelties

To everyone who has donated, thank you all so much!!

I had Indy in my home for a couple of days. He was the 5 year old whose ownership, by contract, reverted to his breeder, if he were to be turned over to a shelter. With a ton of work on his breeders part, I was able to get him from the shelter last week.

What I want to say is, these dogs were definitely not well taken care of. Indy, as I've heard said of several of these dogs, was very close to being feral. He was happiest in his crate, where he felt secure. But at the same time, he wasn't hiding in the crate. As he got to know me, he would greet me when ever I walked into the room with a happy wagging tail. They have so much to overcome, but the sheltie spirit is still in each and everyone of them.

The best we can hope for is that they each find the good loving homes they deserve and, even if just for a short time, get to experience being a loved pet!!
 
Another cross-post for the non-FB crowd -- I will be putting in some OT this weekend to send another donation in.

Well Guys, we have an update! The big news (panic!) is that we have FOUR more sweeties from Riverside. Hopefully, this is the last of them, but we are not positive....all four of these pups were in intensive care, on IVs, sent to the Emergency vet from the shelter. They were returned to the shelter last night and we were called to help. We don't know the extent of their health problems, as our volunteers are on their way to take them to vets offices to be evaluated. Here is the rundown...
We have all girls this time, one of each color.
We have a darling, tiny (12 lbs) bi-black female, aged 11 years old. She is pictured below and you can see what a doll she is!
We also have a striking bi-blue female, an adorable girl who has been featured in the videos and photos since the beginning and I have wondered if she had gotten a home. I guess not, so she is with us now! She is also pictured below.
The next one is a tri girl, only six years old. She looks like she will be lovely when she is less stressed! She is also pictured below.
There is also a darling little blue merle, age 5 years. She is not photographed, but I will try to get a picture of her asap.
The photos below are all the original shelter intake pictures, so they will all look better in the next photos!
Although we are really have our hands full of Riverside shelties right now, we are still confident that they will all be ok and will find forever homes. The update on the five we had a few minutes ago (LOL!) is that the vets are all giving us extremely positive reports on their conditions. They are all getting better each day, all the complications are resolving and they should be out of the hospital and ready for foster homes in the next few days. Whew....
Oh, and if we haven't begged enough...we sure do need money and shares to all your friends who might be able to spare even a few dollars! I will repost our "gofundme" message so you all can share away! And we have our Paypal button at the top of this page, and on our website, www.adoptasheltie.com . This is going to be almost double the challenge...but it is great to know that nearly all the shelties are now out of the shelter and on their way to new lives!

Baker's "cousin" Cubby is sending him a couple of collars that are too small for him - will be perfect for tiny Baker. Since Cara refuses to be paid for them, Baker is insisting (Cara's suggestion) so I will be sending a check tomorrow. I pray nightly for those dogs - wish I could do more.
 
Cool -- I was going to donate the two collars to a local shelter so this is the kind of the same thing where it is really really needed most.

I am sure we will have a couple more hand-me-downs the way Cubby is growing!
 
You guys are the best!!! I wish I could donate more....I did what I could. This is such a heavy load for the rescue!! Bless them for doing what they need to do!

Fyi, I was going to make another donation today on the website http://www.gofundme.com/cqshuw for the shelties from Riverside.

However, this site does not take Paypal. Since I use Paypal for online transactions I went back to the Southland Sheltie rescue site and donated there... www.adoptasheltie.com

I love to see the donations grow and wish the gofundme site offered Paypal.
Oh well, the donation is made and that is the important part... no mater how we send our donations! :lol:

Missy sent in her donation today. She insists the donation go toward cookies and toys. I couldn't bring myself to tell her that it would most likely go toward vet bills. She's not a fan of the vet.

I am sure the rescue has toys around they could use in the mean time...
Perhaps a few photos could be taken of the rescue pups with a few toys and someone could post on this thread so Missy could see it! :biggrin2:
