Judy -- brace and tip. Do the very best you can with her. I just know she is going to turn out show quality (nicely in size and stunning!) and you will end up meeting her breeders at So Cal shows to have a go in the ring!
Zoey is 10 months and still has her ears glued. We are going on vacation in October and will un do them for the week we are gone- and since she will be a year on October we will hopefully leave them undone. Looking forward to that day of not having to be careful with those glued ears and telling people not to touch the ears!!
Callan is 6 months now. I only have one ear glued presently because it was starting to fly. I'm monitoring the other ear. His ears are very thin, so one wind gust sets them up!
I stopped gluing between the ears. Too messy. The set is ok and he's not show. Decided it just was not worth the hassle. I do prefer tipped ears but can compromise on having imperfect tipped ears !
Ugh. Puppies and ears.
this was a huge struggle and we even had super good treats!! I'm going to have to spend a lot of time playing with her ears so she gets more used to it.
Not sure which method you are using but I switched from the duck tape/glue to one that uses moleskin, glue & string. Baker is surprisingly patient & just lays in my lap while I work on them - even dozes off at times. I really like this new way - I can get each ear set up for the bracing and get them each tipped. Then it's just a matter of pulling the strings together & tying a knot to do the brace. Baker seems to like it better too, since I almost always caught some hairs with the glue/tape and he would scratch at them quite a bit.
Of course your patient still needs to be somewhat still for any method to work.
I use hair extension glue & remover from Sally Beauty Supply. I really like the remover - it's a lotion, no offensive chemical smell. And I clean Baker's ears out really well with alcohol swabs before I start.
