EAST COAST shelties & humans remain safe.

The wind is getting really bad here. I've never seen or heard anything like this. I walked Bailey half an hour ago and we were being pushed by the wind. The wind has gotten even worse since then.

I just heard that the water is less than a block from my street, so with high tide approaching, my street will probably be flooded soon. Good thing I evacuated. The lights here have flickered a few times and went out for a second. Hopefully, they remain on.

Bailey is doing well. She's got her thundershirt on and is acting normal. Occasionally, she'll get up to bark at outside noises, but is otherwise okay. I don't think I'll be able to take our out again because it's too dangerous now, so I'll set up some puppy pads by the door.

I hope everyone else is home and safe!

Eerie and quiet

The eye is over us now, all is quiet and extremely eerie. Experiencing bands of rain, winds between 40-80 mph.

Am glad that everyone is reporting in and all people and shelties are safe!!

Lost power for one hour then back on. Hoping that we continue to have power and consider ourselves lucky!!!!

Hugs,
Kate

So my house is brick, then cinderblock, then plaster in the apartments. The water on the west side of the house is being forced through the brick and cinderblock, and dripping onto the floor. The west-facing front door is also leaking. My dogs are done going outside for the night, they can pee on the floors.

Rachael, take care. I am so sorry about your injuries. Thinking of you among the leaks.
Love,
Chris and the fur babies

We still have power!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The lights have flickered on and off, but have stayed on!!!!! We were pretty lucky here, I think since we lost soo many trees during Irene that were weak and dead the ones remaining are fairly strong. It has been blowing a gale out there...I went down the street to shoot some pics and I can honestly say I had a hard time standing straight up! The water is very high though..It wont reach us since we are up enough...but the people a block down may not be soo lucky...

Linda thank you for the photo. Please continue to be safe. We are in the eye of the storm right now and it is unsettling.

Hugs,
Kate

Prayers sent to those being affected by Hurricane Sandy right now. In Toronto, winds are up to 100km/hr and we just had a woman killed after being struck with a sign that flew off when rain and wind intensified... Rest her soul. Weather conditions are apparently only going to get worse... Please stay safe everyone, indoors with your loved ones and furbabies. Hugs to you all, Precious and I will be thinking of you. ♥ Please continue to check in here with everyone.

To everyone along the east coast, stay safe please.

My area is just starting with a long night of high winds and heavy rains. My town's been cutting down dead/diseased trees all summer. Hopefully it will be enough to keep the immediate in town damage to a minimum.

SO scary over here right now.

We are OK, but I have never heard anything like this. Gutters and shutters have been ripped off my house. House is shaking....very scary.

My landlord put up all the agility equipment in a 10x10 kennel, and taken p everything we want to save in the basement (assume sump pump won't be working). I am useless, having fallen in most spectacular fashion at the trial yesterday, spraining two leg joints, damaging one, we thing, and bruising my ribs (no idea how). So I have dog food and ice cream and 800mg ibuprofin. I should be good. :smile2:

Take care! Nothing like bad hurts and being in this weather. Hope you get more then ice cream in your tummy soon.

Sandy has been taken out of the hurricane mode, but its still something. WV got lots of snow in their upper levels. I can't ever remember something happening like this for so many miles. Like I said Katrina was bad enough for Louisana, devastating.

Stay safe, and Ann stay away from all those trees. Keep updating that your all ok. Canada beware and stay safe.
