EatBetter Drinkbetter Bowls

Meggie was a petite eater before we moved in here with Lucy. She used to take a kibble at a time and go under the dining room table to eat it. It took her forever to eat. My daughter suggested taking her food up after a specified amount of time, but it didn't help. She still took her time.

Now, since we moved in here with another dog it is totally different. She eats so fast now! I think she is afraid Lucy will eat her food. But Lucy eats slower and it is her that needs to worry about her food! If she walks away for a moment Meggie is in her dish.

One of my grand-doggers inhales her food and them vomits afterwards. Nikki just put a tennis ball in her bowl with the food. Why the dog doesn't just lift the ball out of the bowl before she eats is beyond me, but she doesn't and it has slowed her down quite a bit.

So true! I had the same thought myself!

My Buddy used to eat way to fast and throw it up. *Caro showed us a toy to make for dogs on some other post. You take a bottle (I used Real Lemon because it's a sturdier bottle) and cut a few holes in it that are barely bigger than they're kibble. Then put the kibble in the bottle and close the lid. Buddy really likes it and has learned interesting ways to get his food out (sometimes he bats at it with his front paws like a cat). Lately he keeps playing with it all day and we can't always find them. Then he has to eat out of his bowl, which he hates. He eats much slower in his bowl now. Hope that helps someone.

some dogs do take the obstruction out- I had also heard about the tennis ball and my old mix Danny did not let it get in his way. Happy was a take some kibble out of the bowl and then eat it kind of dog- until Callie came into the picture. now they both eat until they're done.
