Favorite Shampoo and Conditioners

yes I use it. works well for the show ring, would I use it on my dogs staying in the house....most likely not. I used it more when noah had his wild puppy coat and his fur on his hips was at a weird grow-out phase (IE I dont want to lie flat I want to stand straight up!). Worked well to keep it looking nice and orderly! Cant really comment about build up because I would only use it once before ring time so it wasnt like I was using enough of it to have a buildup.

Jennifer only used it the one time, but the one time she did use coat dressing I really liked it. So I can't really comment on regular usage either.

There's a lot of products that if you use a lot they cause build up. I LOVE the Plush Puppy Puffy Dog. I wouldn't use it every day though. It's great to use on a sheltie ruff. It makes Smudge feel like a teddy bear. :biggrin2:

Indy has flyaway hair so it just might be the right recipe for him. I can groom him forever and 10 seconds later his coat is sticking out sideways again. He weighs less than Bacca but everyone calls him a porker. I have to smooth down his fur and Bacca's to show that they are both about the same tummy-wise (that being said, I think they could both lose about 5 pds)

Barb - I had the same problem with Noah- he was all fur (he was a heavier dog and taller than Emma). I could brush and brush and still he looked twice the size.

Hmm just catching up but use White on White on the Fluffster. It works great on Sca. His white is really nice and the black is almost creepy in that is has a shine that is hard to focus on. But his black is black again and he is nice and soft. Little does he know his recent mud bogging has likely earned him a second bath and this time conditioner also...

I Use Pantene

Actually, I've been using my Pantene (daily clarifying) - the one I use myself for years on Katie and now Laddie. It's wonderful - lathers up nicely, rinses out clean, and leaves their coats shining and soft. It also has a great fragrance - I just want to bury my head in their soft, delicious fur!! I tried other dog shampos but they didn't lather well and smelled awful. I generally bathe them every 3-4 months unless they get into a "dirt" situation and need it sooner, so expense is not an issue.

I've used many shampoos and conditioners. Right now I'm using the Tresemme moisture line because that's what I'm using on my hair  I also like to use the knock off of Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree Oil shampoo (found at Sally's Beauty Supply) for after heavy trimming and raking (to cleanse the skin of impurities from the metal tools being used), or to help the dog's skin if they have skin issues. It's a bit strong so mixing some with water will help (not sure what ratio to use, I just eyeball it). And it also helps your wallet, too!

I need to buy one of those CC sample bag things.
I gave Chase a bath with a cheap pet store shampoo because I was desperate and afterwards he smelled like dog. :dead:
At least when he was dirty he didn't smell.

Vicky....I am not sure how far you are, but Cherrybrook in Washington, NJ sells the CC sample bags. They are moving in July to the corner of Route 31 and Asbury Anderson Rd in Hampton. I also think they have another NJ location.

All the locations are around an hour away from me so I could probably stop by on my way to my cousins house next time I go.
