FERGY IS GROWING

FERGY doesn't give me many chances to take a different photo of him, Ants in his Pants lol
He was still for 10 seconds so I got this one.
Eight months old this past week. Hungry all the time and doesn't get fed in between meal time. Needs some more excercise but 100+ temperatures limits our outdoors with them other than their play yard. Height is right at 15" and weighs almost 34#.

Glad all is well with your boy. I'm a bit concerned about his weight. He's almost double what he should be at that height. If he's heavier boned that's still only a small part of his weight. My 16 inch dogs are at 23 pounds. Just a caution - Shelties will happily eat till they pop. The stress all that extra weight puts on his joints is not a good thing especially since he's still developing. Just my 2 cents worth. Hopefully he's not on puppy food still.

I agree with Sharon on the weight - sorry to take away from your post. Brodie is 15 1/2" and weighs in at 20 1/2 lbs. We came from having doxies - extra weight means back problems - so we are fairly vigilant about weight, food and exercise. We did let both balloon up, seems both were 2 years old, and worked hard to get them gradually back where they should be. We feed Fromm Adult Gold, 1/4 cup 2x per day. We fill in with a partial raw egg once or twice a week (shred between them and the cats), green beans. I make their training treats which are 1/2 calorie each. They get to lick plates, but are not given people food; we scrape the plates before giving to them. Weight is not only hard on their joints, but on the organs as well; heart lungs, kidneys and liver can all be overwhelmed by excess weight. If he is still on puppy food (it's higher fat for brain development), it may be time to slowly transition to adult food or cut back on his portions.

Pico is right around 16, and 18.5 lbs at 16 months. we are trying to get him up to 19 at least (that's where he was but he lost weight on our trip)! 20 is probably max I'd want him at, he's a petite guy. he gets a generous 1 cup of a food a day split into 2 meals. I moved him from puppy food right around 8-10 months old when he stopped growing taller.

Gavin was a very sturdy guy at almost 19 inches and weighed around 32 lbs.

I need to apologize for my numbers in my original post, I was looking at the wrong chart when I posted, "Senior Moment".
FERGY is 16 1/2" and weighs 31#. He is lanky, long, and no fat. He is muscular can jump above the outside door knobs unfortunately, runs like a deer, and never stops until put to bed. House broken at 4 months. Wife is weaning him off puppy food. Happy, Happy, Happy!

Oh MY! FERGY will be nine months old September 27. Maturing too fast. Becoming more loving but he will eat you out of house and home if every
piece of food isn't locked up. Has torn into one of my shirts (On top of Dryer),one pair of wife's dungarees, and at least one or two blankets.
Sleeps eight to nine hours at night, hasn't had an accident in the house more than five months, is attached to Laddie and MAMA.
