Gavin's dotage

it literally appeared in less than 2 days. it wasnt there saturday afternoon when i did post beach clean up, then it was monday.
i know it looks like a pressure sore, but those take time, right?
his behavior hasnt changed recently either.....
and he usually lays on the other side, with his good leg closer to the ground. otherwise he has problems getting back up.
A pressure sore takes time but pressure sores actually form from the inside out, in other words you don’t see it until it’s opened up. When you see a red spot that doesn’t fade after pressure is released that means that the sore may already be forming.

I've been googling dog bed/pressure sores. Gavin isn't immobile (He moves around quite a bit), so the idea of a bed sore seems premature.
Oh, and he doesn't lick that paw either...even when it is open or in a sock.
It isn't an open wound (and I am not removing the scabs), so I can't tell if there is a deep wound there or not. But it is his knuckle so there isnt much room until its bone.
seems like the pressure sores tend to happen on elbows and hips. and some of those pics are nasty!
Anyway, these little scabs seem amenable to soaking, so we are doing that. I am hoping for some visible improvement before I go back to work on Monday to make me feel better about the poor little paw. I will just be more careful with his gauze wrapping and sock. maybe use some vet wrap.

I have a red light laser thing I am using, too. Got it years ago when I was hopeful it would help his leg heal.

I get that, but he wouldn't be able to lick or scratch it. That leg, well he can't feel it. So he doesn't lick or scratch it and it was pretty much bootied up where he couldnt even if he wanted to. I am thinking there was an acute injury somehow, to fit the small time window it had. Kinda like when your tongue is still numb from the dentist and you bite it because you can't feel it? maybe something happened because he couldn't feel that leg. it was pretty hot here, and he has been laying on the tile more as opposed to his soft dog beds. and his circling to settle down doesn't always look pretty.....

Driving myself crazy comparing pictures of his leg from the past week. It isn't getting worse, at least. It seems more scab-like and less bruised skin now, if that makes sense. more red around the edges. sigh.....I ordered some healing balm, too. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B092RLHR7B/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I do have some other stuff I've had for a while for his paw, but it stinks. And I do have Musher's Secret balm, but this stuff is supposed to be anti-bacterial/anti-fungal.
