Gavin's dotage

I can't let myself get sad when he has bad days....Gavin needs me to be happy and supportive. I am just so...pissed...that Gavin got sick the first time I boarded him in 2 years and his physical condition deteriorated so much so fast.

so...little victories and little setbacks. last night gavin stood while i put his 4pt harness (flagline) on and took it off after his potty walk. he usually collapses to a sit as soon as we get inside, so this is a tiny win. so snuggled then.

today not so good. he didn't want to walk out to go potty this AM and tonite he fell 2x in the backyard and needed help getting up.

I can't exactly do his exercises when he's having problems tonite :(

It's so tough when it's a roller coaster of how they are feeling on any particular day. Gavin is a walking miracle any way you look at it. I hope he has a better day tomorrow!

I am trying to reconstruct the last month or so (from here and notes on my phone) to get an idea of how things are going. yesterday/this morning was not very good. he stayed in my bedroom all last night (he normally spends most of the night in the living room and just moves to my bedroom in the early morning) and was very unsteady on his feet this morning. I am seeing he has days where he is good in the AM, and not in the PM (and the other way). I really only started taking notes in mid February, when he had 4 straight bad days.

that's a good idea to take what you've recorded here for your notes...
I've done that- come back here to see what I put down and figure out what's what...

I have one of those weekly planners just for the dogs that give you space in each day to write notes. It's handy for noting when they get medications or illnesses, vet visits etc. I've also used it to make daily notes when one has a problem. That way it's all in one place and easy to refer to. It's a great idea to keep a daily log on Gavin.
