Ginny and Gina's New Home

Thanks for doing such a great job with them!

It must be confusing with their names being so close. Maybe as time goes on, their personalities will bring out some unique nicknames.
Absolutely they have nicknames.
The merle, Sasha is "the Ghost"... she just appears out of nowhere sometimes
The sable, Jessica, is "JJ" or "Jess"... Just natural
The bigger of the tri's, Gina, is "The Bear"... she reminds me of a bear with her wide body and full coat
The other tri, Ginny, is "Biscuit".... she's always begging or looking for one

Thanks for the updates! They are seriously cute, all 4, and you have all colors of the rainbow with your group. Do all 4 girls get along well? I hope they continue to make good progress. Keep the faith!
Yep, so far everyone gets along real well. Sasha, the merle, gets a little jealous if we've got Gina or Ginny on our laps. She can't understand why she isn't getting the attention. She's such a pretty girl anyway - and you'd think she knew it!

I love your shelties! They are too cute - all of them and they look very comfortable with each other and in their home. I bet they make you smile a lot.:smile2:
Smile? oh, yeah! All the time!

I'd also like to thank everyone for your kind comments, your encouragement and suggestions in helping make our home an easier transition for Gina and Ginny. My wife and I continue to be natural around those two, but show them some specialized attention occasionally. I believe it's helping, albeit slowly. In order to give Ginny some individual attention, we have solicited the advice of our groomers, who also have been handlers as well as some limited breeding several years ago. We're "trying out" a Thundershirt for Ginny's anxiety and it seems to help, although we've used it sparingly in the 2 days we've tried it. We'll see how it goes for the next couple of days.

A Little Update...

It's been about 2 1/2 months now since we adopted Gina and Ginny. They continue to make small increments of progress.

While Gina STILL won't walk on smooth surfaces, she has discovered other parts of the house where there is carpeting and/or rugs. I guess she has realized we're not such bad people after all and actually comes over and sleeps close to us when we are in the family room.

Ginny is still skittish but ventures close and follows my wife and I around the house - thinking there will be a treat wherever we go, I guess. But, she runs to the other end of the house when she hears our son stir. He's in his early 20's and is a good-sized lad at about 6'3". If I'm in the home office, Ginny will come over and "hide" by my chair. :hide She actually allows me to pet and comfort her during this time. Otherwise, she still crouches down whenever you go to pet her.

All four of the girls now sleep in our bedroom. Everyone pretty much has their own nooks or bed. During the early morning hours, I have seen Ginny try to "play" with Sasha, our merle. I don't know why Sasha won't... maybe she will eventually.

No new pictures - but I'm sure there will be some soon. :smile2:

They are beautiful, and their little fearful faces make me want to cry. I just cannot understand how anyone could treat these wonderful dogs in that way. Kudos to you for taking them in, and giving them the forever home deserved by all shelties.

Thanks so much for the update. I am taking all these poor dogs' lives into my heart and it helps to know they are making progress.... otherwise you are just left to wonder and hope all is well.

It makes my day to know these rescued pups are in such good hands. I hope they continue to make progress, like Tinsel has! :fl

Glad to hear that the girls are coming round. You might want to take Ginny in to have her eyes checked. Rhiannon has spots on her retina from a virus that her mother passed to the litter when she was born. Her depth perception is not good so while she will run on ice and climb rock faces outside, she will not walk across a shiny floor. In the end, it isn't too much of a problem living with this - she's 11 in July.
Tinsel sends his love.
