Greetings to all you Sheltie-ites from San Diego

I fell in love with Shelties after I got my first one, Samantha, who is now at the rainbow bridge with Jasmine (my Afghan Hound), and vowed to only adopt rescue dogs from that point on.

Hey...a fellow Californian!! I'm up from you in O.C. I'm always surprised when someone from Ca. comes on the site ;-).. It seems like most of the people are on the East Coast, or mid-west.. When was it you adopted Laddie? I often check out the SD Rescue, as well as the Socal rescue site, and I think I remember seeing him? Or...did you change his name? We also had a sheltie named Samantha that is now at Rainbow Bridge along with your Samantha.. Welcome!

Ditto for me. I'm also up in OC and have been checking out the SD/SoCal Sheltie rescue. :) I'm thinking my next one may be a rescue. It depends on how badly I want to do agility or not. I think that makes 4 of us in SoCal that I've seen on the board. lol

I recently visited my cousin who lives in San Diego and we walked to a Dog Park (one that overlooked a golf course) and I was SO impressed. All of the dogs were so well behaved. It was such a joy to see so many people enjoying their dogs both at the dog park, at Dog Beach (how could I not visit there), and even walking along the "boardwalk" in Pacific Beach. You have fantastic weather!!!!

All the dogs in So Cal are perfect.. It's a rule here.... Just kidding!! Glad you enjoyed your time here. So Cal is a very dog friendly area. You do come across the "mischievious" one's here and there though just like anywhere else. As far as our weather...I'm a bit spoiled. I need it to be between 75 and 80 to consider it "perfect." Our friends from Minnesota were here last week and it was high 60s to low 70s, and I froze! They were in heaven though..

It surprises me there aren't more of us here from Ca. Maybe in time ;-).. Hey? Can you tell me if there are any agility meets going on around here soon? I went to one at TeeWinkle Park in Costa Mesa last year, and really enjoyed it.

By the way...isn't that little "Gilbert" a doll on the rescue site?! They are all adorable though. I think that little "Thomas" in SD (I think that's him on the top right on the page, but it looks like he's been adopted by now) came from the shelter here in O.C. Not positive though? I had seen a tri sheltie there and contacted the rescue. They had him in their hands the next morning. If they hadn't been able to, I'd be posting about my 3rd sheltie now! lol I do have my hands full already, but no way would I have left him there.

Thanks to All Our New Sheltie Friends

I adopted Laddie on 12/11 from Southland Sheltie Rescue. I live in an apartment but that was OK with them. They knew Laddie would get the care and TLC he needed, and all my attention (with Katie, of course)!! He was found wandering in traffic in Van Nuys!! He lost his right eye - I don't know how and I really don't want to. It doesn't bother him at all. I think he looks "distinguished"!!
I promise to get my digital camera out and get some pix posted. Katie's "title" is "Her Sublime Sheltiness the Empress Katie", Laddie's "title" is "Casanova Sheltie Man". He is the most intense, determined kisser ever! He likes to sit bolt upright, between my legs, back facing me, and then drop into my lap and give huge kisses and get squeezed. Katie is more reserved, but if I sneeze she will dive into my lap and give huge kisses too. Wouldn't want to be without a sheltie EVER!!
