Anybody else hating the weaves?
SO, foundation level 2...
I need a bait pouch! Any of you use those?!?
Why haven't I ever been informed of them.. !?? lol
I used to think those are silly, but now I can see why they are handy!!
In class.. he is still a bit shy at present to just be motivated with the tug, although it works in the backyard...(working on this still wherever I go I take the tug and engage him... so he learns tug is great wherever you are)
The other big thing is that I am trying to teach the 2x2 method of weaving, with my BAD timing,
and I realized that a bait pouch would work, because when I was throwing the hot dog pieces (his high value treat) they rolled god knows where... then he looks to me for treats, so I finally figured with the food I am not quick enough with the rewards at the moment...
I use garden stakes for weaves, what did u guys use in the beginning?
At the end of class he DID have drive for the weaves, because my trainer was throwing the rewards for me
Toffee is like me, we really need to think things through and then make the right decisions...
Good news is that I do not think he is a velcro dog, believe it or not! I was able to send him out a bit and we started threading and redirecting... was great seeing him (and more so ME) get it, actually. I really AM amazed how awesome these dogs are at reading us! I needed to be taught what signals work, and Toffee never questioned it, he went out and stayed out !! ... did I mention MY thick skull?
