Handler Novice Agility

I actually use a belt bag with two smaller treat bags, similar to the one your ordered. One of the smaller bags as the 'normal value' treats, like Zuke's Mini Naturals, and the other one the 'high value' treats, like cheese or a soft food.

Training weaves is a process. Unfortunately I really can't help you because I don't really know the 2x2 method of training. What I can tell you, however, is not every training style works for every dog. If you spend a lot of time with the 2x2 and its still not clicking for him, see if you can try a different method, like channel weaves or wire guides.

Maybe, if you have the room at home to train, you can make a set of 2x2 (which I believe are 2 sets of 2 poles each). I found these instructions online: http://www.ehow.com/how_4860596_make-pvc-weave-poles.html. They are for a full set of poles but you should be able to just build 2 sets of 2.

weaves oh weaves

I JUST ordered my first set of weaves LOL and just ONE jump....
oh man, this is going to be addictive, you guys!!?

Here is a great video of the idea of 2X2 method... we did have a bit of a breakthrough and I AM starting to get it, but these people make it look so much easier, hahaah, but I have to remember that am not that perfect at all at my flatwork and positioning the dog for success ... so I doubt I can do 12 poles in 12 days, LOL
But I have since added a second set.. I am just going to wait til I have my set of weaves!!! Then I will start from the beginning again, on leash... :) Reason is that he has turned around a number of times now when off leash, trying to correct himself etc etc... and I don't want to set that behaviour up now.. then to have to untrain what I did wrong agin, LOL

And here you go. One Jump Drills LINK

I'm assuming someone has mentioned the weaves and age bit right? As in, you shouldn't do weaves until a certain age. Kinda like jumping. I can't recall if anyone mentioned it or how old your pup is. But thought I should bring it up, just in case.

It's addicting I tell ya! And just keep telling yourself....it'll take awhile. :) I was lucky that i had a trainer work with Koji every week for months. He's pretty solid on it. Now, if he'd only stop passing them by.

Just wanted to say good luck with it all, sounds like you are coming along well.

Weaves, imo, are the hardest obstacle on the course for the sheer concentration they demand off the dog. So be patient and it will come with time. Enjoy your equipment:wink2:

hahaha, oh just great now I need to print that out at work, lol
Toffee just turned two.. it's all good, there :)

ZOMG ZOMG ZOMG.. we may get to trial, yet :)

:winkgrin::biggrin2:
SO..
To9day in our second class in foundations 2... we worked 2on 2 off.. we worked on shaping with a footstool, AND a big garbage can lid, which my trainer thought of.. . ANDDDDD Toffee let HER handle his collar and hold to get him to drive for his first ever tire jump :)
Mr Toff Toff was jumping that tire as if it was NOTHING... then he didn't budge even once after that and we did a sequence tire followed by a tunnel... and a font cross at the end of it!!!

We also did 2X2 weaves, threading and jump sequences... and I was joking how Toffee may NOT be a velcro dog (YAY) BUT IT TURNS OUT I think I AM VELCRO HUMAN!!??? :o We laughed so much and he found a new toy (in my trainers bag... lol) .. some faux fur thing thing with tennis ball... (may see a pattern there he is into faux crushed velvet)

I am OVER the MOON, when my trainer said if we continue on this trajectory then she can definitely see us in trials by next year for sure...
I think I am tearing up with the emotions of it all

I think I maybe a velco human too. I am really trying to let them work away from me. Its not working.:( I got the book unleash the velco dog and the go the distance videos. Good stuff. Do they have the unleash the velco human?

That is so wonderful!!!! I don't know if we have books on velcro humans, however, I have a velcro dog, so what do I know? LOL. You'll be trialling in no time! Sounds like Toffee is doing an excellent job. Definitely has the makings of a natural. Unlike mine.
