YES YES YES!!!
I went for our first trial before we even did a fun match and I don't regret it one bit! We had fun and I could finally see what bothered Romeo in that kind of environment and how he would react or if he would even work for me, instead of just guessing!

Don't worry about making a fool of yourself! But see if you and Toffee can top peeing in the tunnel! :lol: Once you take the plunge into a more "competitive" environment, I guarantee you won't look back! I'm already looking forward to the next time I can run a course outside of our training class!
 
I would enter a fun match with a green dog. It is a good learning opportunity for you and your dog to get to work in a show like environment. Any time you have an opportunity to do a fun match or show n go before you start competing with a dog, I would suggest to take it.
 
Making a fool out of yourself is half the fun....lol. j/k
I say go for it. You seem to know what you want, what to stay away with, and this will give Toffee some of that "trial" experience which is great.

A woman who works at the training facility just started training with her dog. My friend signed her up to run with an experienced dog this weekend. She's freaking out. But I tell her, I forget the courses in class, I've done it at trial. I've almost taken out wings. Just laugh and keep moving. The dog won't care, just have fun.

So, go for it, but just have fun. Trust me, you'll definitely be able to tell what you need to work on by that experience. Even if it's just keeping Toffee in the ring...or focused.
 
Agility Fun

I agree with everyone just go and have fun.It is a great learning experience.Iwill send Shadow up to you for the day.With him it is just tell him where to go.Just have food.LOL:biggrin2:
 
since I have tendency to jump in with both my feet we did just that- no fun matches for us, go straight into trials... and no, making a fool of yourself is a sign of good trainer:wink2:
if my videos ever get posted you should see Che running around looking for his mommy/ we made switch since I had to go to work but did not let Che know and I am his main agility buddy anyway/ and my hubby sneezing every few seconds/ his recall cue for Che/ on the field... Che deciding to tear up masking tape from the floor due to sheer frustration? happiness?

We're of the "jump right in" persuasion. We don't have any fun matches or anything like that around here. We just started trialing :)

As much as I was sitting here thinking, "can you send Shadow my way" I started to realize....any mistake he made would clearly be mine. oh the pressure! lol
