Harrisburg Kennel Club Dog Show

that would be awesome- I have the SN polo but no way I can make the Harrisburg show
someone who does go MUST TAKE PIX and post them

I'll definitely have my Canon D40 with me. NO WAY I'm going to something like that without a camera.

Do we know for sure that the Sheltie breed judging is on Saturday? I thought someone said the final schedule wouldn't be available until a week or so before the show.

No, we don't know for sure but maybe some of our members who show there can venture a guess based on past experience. I can also put a feeler out to my breeder since she's usually there. My groomer, who also shows Shelties, may be able to give us a rough idea as well.

I know when our local kennel club does a show, each day is a complete show from Breed through Best of Show. Not sure how Harrisburg works because I've never been to that one.

The 3 dog shows April 17th-19th, are called the Blue and Gray Cluster. Each day is a complete dog show through to Best in Show. The Harrisburg Shetland Sheepdog Club has a supported entry. Meaning it is like a stand alone specialty, but held as part of an All Breed Show. They get to have a say on the sheltie judge, and their club does all the trophies for the sheltie entry.
By doing their specialty in conjunction with an All Breed Show, they don't have the costs of a independent superintendent, or facility. It brings in large sheltie entries because they use breeder judges for the 3 days. It's a win for the club, more entries, and a win for the exhibitors, more entries means more majors.

There will be Sheltie breed judging there...however we dont know the exact time of the judging until usually about 2 weeks before the show. They have to wait till all the entries close and see what the numbers are and where to stick everyone!

Ok, maybe I'm a little crazy but I ordered a pair of Sheltie Nation golf shirts (one for me and one for Celtic Fire) today so we'd have them for the Harrisburg show (and future agility trials).

If anyone else is considering purchasing a shirt for the show, be aware that Economy Shipping takes 9 to 11 business days. I ordered the shirts today and they aren't scheduled to arrive until the 16th or 17th. So, if you are going to order, keep shipping times in mind.

Have I mentioned I'm getting excited about putting faces and names together?

OK, everybody gather around Silaria beside the Sheltie judging ring.

What a day. It would have been a great day if not for technical difficulties. Although I'm a pretty good photographer with my film camera, my Canon Digital Rebel XT gives me fits. I just can't get it to take decent pictures. Many are either out of focus or don't have the proper exposure. In fact I generally get better pictures from my point & shoot that cost a fraction of the price. So expecting problems I took both. The Rebel did as expected and many of my pictures didn't turn out. The area lighting wasn't great so the point & shoot pictures are mostly too dark. I tried fixing some with Paintshop and even that was giving me a headache. The auto fixes just weren't working and I wasn't going to spend all day trying to fix them manually. So, for what it's worth, here are the better pictures. http://s177.photobucket.com/albums/w206/tim15856/Our Shelties/2010 Harrisburg Dog Show/ The Collies were up after the Shelties and were right behind us so we took some pictures of them as well.
