Hello from Gulf Shores,AL

Just curious why you guys do 4 rounds of vaccinations?
I’d had issues with Blueberry so ended up getting her titred however my regular vet had said if your taking your pup to a place where ALL the pups have had some vaccinations then the risk is very low while the benefits are great. I’d stay away from areas though that have lots of strange dogs like dog parks and public sidewalks.
Where we live, the incidence of parvovirus is extremely high. Our vet gives 3 vaccinations three weeks apart, after the breeder has given the first round at 8 weeks.
So funny about the recommendation for Home Depot! I had that revelation early this morning. We took Scout and put a blanket in the cart. The only problem was he hated the noise the cart made in the parking lot. He barked and tried to get out, but when we got to the door, we just stood outside and let him be acclimated to the sounds and the people coming out. When tried to pet him, he got closer and licked their hands. I was amazed because he had been so reluctant to go to strangers before today.
We took him inside and he was the perfect dog! No barking, lying down, and allowing anyone to pet him.
So glad we this and we will definitely do more. Still stress drooling in the car, but that’s another issue.

My 10-month-old stress drools too, but she's very new to car rides. I have some baby bibs I put on her to keep her dry. Of course she also returns any meal she's had within 8 hours of being in the car, ugh. I use Bonine for that, 1/2 tab. But she's bigger and older, I'd check with your vet before using it for a younger puppy.

Totally agree about socialization. You can't start early enough. You've gotten great suggestions here and Home Depot is a good one. Ours is like doggie central. You always find people walking dogs around the store! I've used a stroller to get my dogs out to higher traffic places when you don't want them walking. It's a great way to expose them to more sights and sounds. You're doing all the right things!

What is Bonnie?

And a late hello and welcome from Northern Virginia! I have Layla, who's 15 and still going like a trooper, though she does spend a lot of her awake time searching the house for Dr. Who's TARDIS. Then there's Beckon (see left), aka Colonel Underpants. He's a tripod who's living with managed liver cancer. Finally, is Penny, aka Penelope Rose. She's my husband's service dog. Oh, and my sister has Loki, a Papillion, who's the irritating brains of the outfit. (Sorry, gang, but it's the truth.) Scout looks like a delightful handful!. I recommend the book The Art of Raising a Puppy by The Monks of New Skete. It's our puppy bible!
