Hello ..NikkiRose journey to recovery... Nikki was running and playing over the weekend and slid .. injuring her back.. I haven't seen a lot about disc injuries ... she can't stand nor walk ... no surgery thank god... strict kennel rest for 6 to 8 weeks the only time out will be for potty times.
Even then I will be using a sling to help support her back.
The one thing about disc injuries is the healing steps are in reverse .. feeling.... then balance ... then movement... basically learning how to walk all over again.. after the 6-8 weeks.
its not a slipped disc or herniated.. she twisted just enough to cause swelling which is causing the pressure. she is on pain meds and steroids.
I don't know if I am posting this in the right area if not please point me in the right direction... Thank you..

Hi Fawn and welcome to SN.

I am so sorry your Nikki Rose got hurt...spinal injuries are frightening and very painful. It sounds like you have good medical support for her and hopefully with following the rest/medication protocol she will slowly regain normal activity.

Fawn, so sorry to hear of Nikki Rose's back injury.

Pain meds and steroids and restricted mobility will help.

My Chance was jumping off the chaise lawn chair and missed his footing. He went down on his head and his full body weight came down on it! I was horrified as he was paralyzed and could not move afterwards. I was on the ground with him sobbing uncontrollably. I called a family member and we rushed to the vet.

He eventually regained his mobility but it took 4 weeks! He was also on pain meds and steroids and restricted mobility. I had to carry him out to do his business and when we were outside he was in a small x-pen so he could not run or play.

I hope your sweet Nikki Rose recovers soon. It is so scary to go through this type of injury. We hope time, rest and meds speed her recovery! :fl:hugs:fl
