I posted his situation on the petfinder.com urgent rescue forum. Maybe someone there can help. I am praying it will happen. He didn't ask to get old, ill & dumped. What a reward for being someone's pet!
I have been emailing all breed rescues and none have responded back yet. Nobody seems to want Zippy. Maybe somebody could post on Austin Texas craigslist. Just maybe somebody will be moved to get him. He is on my mind every day. One very I'll looking sheltie in Florida is also on my mind. Rescue was trying to get this one. Who knows how to post on craigslist?
I just posted Zippy on the Austin craigslist. Here is the link to the post. http://austin.craigslist.org/pet/2878320829.html.
Maybe it will get some attention. If you need me to post on another craigslist just let me know. I am in Louisiana & will help any sheltie I can.
Thanks for posting Zippy on those websites. I have emailed numerous rescues in TX and have not gotten one email back. Not even to say no. I think these postings you just did are his last chance. All I can say is poor Zippy. (and the rest dumped for no good reason)
I would take him if I could get him here but I am near New Orleans & the transport might be hard on him. I have done everything I can think of & hope some generous person will save him. It breaks my heart to see him there. It would be nice if people responded to your requests for help. Even "no" is better than ignoring.
Homes for pets of Schertz Humane Society sent me a list of rescues to contact. I am busy sending them emails. Seems everyone is overwhelmed with high rates of dogs in need. Thank you Schertz volunteers! Even though they couldn't take him the list of shelters to contact is very much appreciated. I saw Zippy's posting on craigslist Austin. Thank you.
That's encouraging news to get a list of contacts. Maybe there's still a chance. Now if only I could rescue the one in AR-www.petfinder.com/petdetail/22339201?rvp=1 & the one in Tampa www.petfinder.com/petdetail/22334189?rvp=1.
I have rehomed at least 6 from my area. They seem to pop up in spurts here. I have traveled to get several but am limited on traveling very far right now. I wish the one in AR could transport over my way. It's hard being an individual doing rescue. The shelters in other places don't recognize any but official 501(c)3 registered ones. I am such small scale that getting registered is a bit above my head.
I contacted a sheltie rescue near Tampa about Sunny, he looks a bit unhealthy, and they wanted him. The shelter must not have released him. Poor boy. I haven't heard anything about Zippy. The one on Michigan is up for adoption. Nobody came to claim him. Sigh.
Thanks for the update. I am glad someone is trying to get Sunny. I am hoping the unnamed one in Cabot AR gets rescued. It says Sheltie mix but the picture looks mainly sheltie to me. Didn't see the Michigan sheltie. I wish I had more contacts in other places. I have a few in TX & Florida but it's mainly my friends & family. I do have a contact with a rescue in Wyoming & another in TX but that's it really.
