Hi from Virginia Beach

Welcome to the Forum!
I cannot wait to see photos of a new Sheltie baby finally in your arms!

Toffee is my first Sheltie but won't be my last, hehehehehe. I was properly converted from being a GSD fan to Shelties, lol
I had not had a puppy in eons either, but it was sorta like riding a bike, it all came back to me. I am sure it will be the same for you. How exciting, fun and a little exhausting it will be, lol.

This forum was also a huge help for me when I was looking for help with food, etc which is how I came across it and I never left!

PS when it comes to names, it is super important, and I also found it came to me, I thought for sure Toffee would be named Angus then I saw him and I knew the name wasn't right for this pup and I went with Toffee instead... turns out his Mom's name was Taffy, which then sealed it for me... lol

Welcome to the forum!!!

Hi Marilyn! Welcome to the forum. I am new here well, kind of. I am so sorry to hear about your baby Shana. I know the feeling of losing one of you family members who have been with you for a while. I too lost my little Chico back in October and I miss him dearly. He was a whopping 4 pound Chihuahua at his max! He too followed me everywhere. He would check up on me in the bathroom too but he would see that I was fine and he would turn to face the door as though he was giving me privacy!! lol He was a real sweetheart. He had a heart murmur and was on heart meds and a diaretic too. He would have been 12 if he had lived until Dec 1st.
I haven't gotten my little girl yet but I am getting a little bit here and there. It is really like planning for when you have a baby! Only this one is a furkid!! I have found that the folks here are wonderful and give excellent information and insight. As for VA Beach, I have family in Norfolk and friends in Portsmouth and Chesapeake too!!! I know that they don't get much snow there!!!! Enjoy it while you can!!!

:biggrin2:

Hi Marilyn: Welcome! I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your little girl. I think you are doing the right thing jumping right in and getting another sheltie. Don't feel guilty; you know the puppy won't replace your girl, but she'll sure bring you a lot of joy. I waited two years after my Katie died at 16 and my other sheltie, Logan, had died the year before at 13. When we discovered he had cancer, we were told it was too spread to do anything for him. I got Zoe last July and don't have any idea why I waited so long. She brings so much sunshine and love to my life. All the best of luck with the new puppy. Can't wait to see pictures. (Someone at my dog training center has a sheltie with a tri head and a white body, but she couldn't tell me what mix of colors create that coloring. Do you know? Such amazing coloring!). You have to post pictures of your boy too! Take care!

I had a few emails from Marilyn today and the new little girls plane is on time so they should have her on their arms by now safe and sound. Such a long day for a little puppy.
