How Much Energy Did Your Puppy Have?

Since I have never used cages for my puppies / dogs,
they have been with me all the time when I have been home,
so they rest where and when they wanted (Minnie had a lot of energy)

I have taken the walks that have been possible

I never had a schedule but always looked at the small puppy,
did it get a little tired? I picked it up for a rest
or maybe we sat on a bench and looked at the world around us.

When Minnie was about 3 months we went on walks of about 1 hour
at least 2-3 times a day

I've always found that puppies are very much like human babies. They need a regular schedule with nap times. Mine always had play time after meals (I feed three times a day until 6 months) and then nap time, in their playpen or crate. Puppies usually sleep a fair amount and if they get overtired as Caro said, they're just like cranky toddlers. If left to their own devices, they won't go and sleep on their own. You have to put them to bed.

Another thing to mention is that just a few minutes of brain activity can be very tiring (and healthy!) for a young pup. Caro had a good idea in mentioning treat dispensing toys or puzzles, but another thing is just training in general. Tricks are fun and good for both the pup and you!
