How NOT to glue ears.

I tried jiffy sew once it was too sticky, hated it.

 Agreed. We used Speed Sew for Bentley, and it was all over the place! I felt like I was causing more trouble than it was worth. With Lexi we're just using the Japanese tape and it's better already.

(Note: Bentley has prick ears because of it!)

Oh yes, definitely!

My breeder showed me how to do it....I was just horribly inept at it!

Gluing between the ears is comparable to moleskins and japanese tape, if done correctly.

What did you use to remove it? :uhoh: It's murder trying to get it out of Fluffy's fur. I can't imagine trying to work glue out of a huge patch like that. :eek2: Her fur is black, and it's not as easy to hide glue or oily remover.

When you glue it like that how often did you change it out? :confused2:

I use the glue between the ears. With Justice, I used to much and ended up having to cut some out. With the girls, I only use one drop and made a small brdige and left it alone unless it came out. If it did, I'd apply the glue(another small drop) to the top of the old drop. The oils in their fur made the Tear mender stretch and rubbery with time and it just combed out easily in the end. It's not like real glue. If I had to take it out early, a little water and dish soap loosened it up and it comb out with teasing. The key for me Tear mender glue and use only a small amount and leave it alone.:smile2:

I'm using the Cherrybrook brand glue:

This is the remover I am using:

Detachol! The magic remover! I only found out about it at the end of Bacca's gluing career!

Yep Detachol is the one I have here.I ordered mine thru my Walmart pharmacy. I think I am going to give it a whirl when Jasper comes home.

I have Jiffy sew for the glue.I was told only a drop will do ya,by the gent that I talked with that night. He is a long time sheltie owner, and it is all he ever has used for over 20 years. Once you put in in,don't fuss with it,as you will end up with a mess.

We'll see how it goes~

I have no experience with those. I learn the method I use from my breeder and it works for me. Diva's co owner used a Japanese tape, mole skin and adhensive on her puppy and it seemed to complex for me.:smile2:

Here is the type of glue I use. It is a weird glue. I didn't need remove for it, it worn out.

How NOT to glue ears!? Check out Bacca's pic. Check out the white blog between his ears.

I put so much glue between his ears AND misaligned them at the same time, that it took nothing less than a sledgehammer to break down that wall!

By the time I was done, there was no fur left to reglue...And now, he ain't nothing but a hound dog...!

But awful cute anyway!

BARB! thats not glue thats the Berlin wall!!:eek2::lol:
I love the Japanese tape...no glue no mess no fuss. When the tape is ready to come out it pretty much just rolls off and your left with very little residue

I've gotten good suggestions from a lot of different people. I'll try them all out, one by one.

Then by the time I find the one I like the best...

...Fluffy will be too old for it to matter! That STR remover is waaaaay too oily though. I don't think I like it very much. I only got it because it said it wasn't toxic to dogs, and we all know Fluffy loves her random snacks. :rolleyes2:
