If I wake up in themiddle of the night, Max & I spend the night on the xectional, which is very comfy. Fred id in his crate sleeping soundly. What I would give for 8 hour sleep. 
I don't think I will have a night of sleep again.

My schedule is different every day so the time I get up varies. Justice has learned that I don't really get up until I open my eyes. I can turn my head and look at the clock and hit the snooze but if I open my eyes looking straight up he knows and he is there licking my face and doing the wiggle butt dance. I can lie there awake and feel him beside my left shoudler but he doesn't do anything until I open my eyes. I often wonder if he is staring at me as I sleep.
The girls stay asleep until I usually get up off the bed and then they start running and barking.

Maggie wakes up with us or a bit before and as soon as she knows we are awake she rubs against us like a cat and then we get kisses. Mark gets up before I do and sometimes she stays with me or she jumps into Marks arms to be lifted down to the floor then she starts with the play bowing and bouncing around to get me up for breakfast. She is like a kid on christmas morning!!!

I thank goodness only Rocky and Yoda and occassionally Scarlett can jump up on my bed (very high). Yoda won't jump up on the bed anymore because Rocky is extremely territorial with him, and Scarlett gets rather winded when she does. So old Rockstar jumps on my bed and goes nuts if he feels it's time to get up and give him sone loving. If you won't acknowledge his presence, he will start playing on the bed and pounce on you. If you do stir, he starts batting at the bedding and batting at you as well. He i s my alpha, puppywannabe

Mine do one of two things - they either sit there and just watch me until I open my eyes, and then its kisses and licks. Or Deska just barks to get me up when he is ready to get up!
Wait till daylight savings ends - the licks may not be so funny at 6am!

Today was pretty fun. We are having a good weekend so far. I got off work 4 hours early for the sole purpose of taking Jack to the dog park. I bought him a Chuckit, after seeing him flip out whenever we went to the park and he saw someone using it with their dog.
We got there and he chased the ball for a good 20 minutes until some trouble brewed. There was a pit bull/boxer mix there that was not exactly friendly. Jack being the dog friendly dog that he is, rolled onto his back to show his submission to allow this excited dog to sniff him out. Rather than the norm which is the other dogs sniff him and say hello. This one decided that growling and pinning Jack down was the thing to do.
He was yelping, and was generally scared. 
I was about 10 feet away, ran over and yelled at this other dog. It didn't back off, so I took Jack's new found toy and smacked this much larger dog off of him. Then after he/she separated I got between the both of them and watched this other dog. It tried to take another growled lunge and smacked it again, and chased it away from Jack. I picked him up, then the owner showed up to attempt to get control over her dog, who was still trying to get at Jack while I held him. He was freaked out for a bit, and not hurt. I took him to an isolated spot in the park and let him chase his ball for a while to wait for that other dog to be taken away.
Out of all the breeds that we have encountered at the park, that is the first type of dog to actually become agressive at him. He's met lots of Rotties, German Shepards, Labs, Huskies and the like. They are friendly with him, and want to play, though MUCH bigger than him are playing nice.
But that's not going to stop us. Tomorrow poopy puppy is going to get so much exercise he is going to fall asleep on the way home. Then hopefully the wife and I can have a quiet night tomorrow.

Good call getting the dog off Jack!
Try not picking him up tho if you can avoid it, because those big oafy dogs will get their prey drive engaged when you lift your dog up.. lol
Also remember to be safe when you go charging in like Papa Bear (I do Mamma Bear quite well, if I do say so myself) to be very safe in how you separate your dog and that you have good footing!!!
I have had that exact experience with some Boxers as well at the park... it's of course NOT a matter of breed, but who knows maybe new owners just have no idea how exuberant Boxers are and the gladiator style play that they do, lol
Usually I see one coming and walk Toffee the other way, since he is now a bit of a snapper with dogs who aren't friendly and polite, lol Toffee doesn't submit anymore... I have greatly improved his playing NICE ever since I got my clicker, man that thing is working out great... This way I don't suppress the aggression to cause problems in other ways, but address it and re-direct it, and get control of him before it turns into lil Sheltie against BIG oafy dog scrapping match...

With daylight savings time and a Saturday, the sun had risen by 7:10 a.m. The boys decided it was time.
I woke up to both boys laying on my back and one (I don't know which) licking my ear. Wakey, wakey! Snarl! (that was me, not the dogs!)

Howard and Piper have their own beds on the floor but usually end up on our bed by the morning. When I wake up I have to be careful not to catch Piper's eye... He is just waiting for me to notice him... Then BAM! Sheltie in your face!!!
Once Piper starts jumping all over the bed, Howard starts too, and before you know it they are both sitting on your head/pillow/whichever one looks comfier and nuzzling you with their wet noses. It's impossible to get angry tho, they are just so adorable and happy to see us. Shelties are the best!

Oh yes! Avoid morning eye contact at all costs! Once they see you seeing them, its game, set, match! Sheltie wins!
On those rare moments when I wake first, but know I can sleep in longer, I have carefully roll into a position so I can get the lay of Sheltie land. Ok, Bacca still flaked on lying on his back with 4 feet in air. Check! Indy's on the floor, head up and in jumping position. Alert, Alert! Quickly close eyes, roll back over and put pillow over head. Take a deep breath and feign sleep again.
This usually gains me about another 10 minutes at most .
Then the games begin!
