I finally brought a Dremel

I use a Dremel on Kooper but not yet on Brodie. Kooper has to be muzzled to do nails - he's a handful and will gladly bite whoever attempts - and he is a food driven dog. I do not allow Brodie to see Kooper getting his nails done.

I hope to be able to have Brodie nice and calm, do the treat thing, so I don't have a 2nd dog that is a handful with nails.

I started with Jocu as a puppy- had the grooming table in the big bathroom. I'd take just him in there and do his nails with lots of cookies. so that summer, we were visiting family and I decided to do his nails on the porch so I wouldn't have to vacuum the carpet when we were done. well, when the brown dogs saw that there were cookies for that, I didn't have to do anything else to get them to let me dremel.......
 
I start puppies with the dremel too, even if it's just a bit to get them used to it. Most of mine are getting dremeled only by 6 months. I've had so many mishaps and bleeding nails with clippers that I'll only take a tiny bit off if I have to use them. I sit on the floor with the dogs on their backs between my legs, up against a door that is all glass for the best light. Every now and then the UPS delivery guy shows up when I'm dremeling. I can't imagine what he thinks! :bag:

any treat will do.....
they'd be happy with carrots, lettuce, anything really......................:winkgrin:
