I think Lucy ate a bee.

OH NO...and OH my gosh.. This is so scary. I hope to see a post soon that she's alright..!

It does raise a question though... SHOULD one of our furkids eat a bee...is it wise to immediately give them a dose of benedryl as a precaution??

I have given Vinca a children's benedryl when she ate a bee once.
 
She is OK!

She definitely ate a bee, it didn't appear to be swollen too badly, although her throat was quite raw from her coughing. She doesn't appear to be allergic but they said we could take regular Benadryl for the next couple of days. I think it scared her more than anything and Lucy does not scare easily.

On the way out the cutest thing happened. I told Fiona Lucy had a 'bo bo'. Fiona is usually the one with the bobo, so she knows this word very well. Fifi doesn't normally want anything to do with Lucy but while we were getting ready to leave Fiona walked up very slowly to Lucy (who was lying down) and tapped her on the face with her nose. Almost like she was giving Lucy a kissie. I almost cried!

That is such good news for you. I am glad she will be okay.

So cute for FiFi to give her sister a kiss. (love the nickname - my one niece is called Fee by her brother and sisters-same first name Fiona).

There is nothing we can do to prevent our dogs from eating something they shouldn't. No matter how careful we are things happen. Thank goodness there was a vet open that you could take her too.
 
I am so glad you took her to the vet and all is okay. That is such a sweet sweet story about Fiona loving her sister. They will have such fun with your new puppy.
 
Coughing! See, I wouldn't even have thought about her coughing. I thought maybe it had stung her inside the mouth though.
