being calm around your dog means a lot as dogs pick up on your tension and anxiety....
I feel many of us do not give our pets enough credit to try to figure their doggie sociaziation... doggies are much smarter and most of them will do just great if given a chance... I know and speak from experience.... I am the first one to freak out in pooch park if things do not look right to my liking... I bet with me pup would not have become that wonderful playful diplomatic doggie that he is now thanks to my calm and assertive hubby....
doggie day care with smart people could be another avenue to socialize your dog well...
