I feel your pain. When we had the blizzard a few years back I only cleared off a portion of our paver patio and my three Shelties refused to go! I ended up shoveling a path 30 feet over to their pea gravel area and had to keep shoveling every hour for the duration of this snow event. Boy was I tired.
I have a suggestion that may or may not work. Take your little guy up to his favorite spot and let him pee/poop, then tear up some of that soggy grass and a few poop logs back to the area where you want him to go. The familiar odor may just do the trick. Let me know if it works. Good luck!!
