Im Not Peeing There!!! You are CRAZY!

Awesome!!! I guess we are calling this one a tie? I have a feeling that you will get more points for the next battles to come.

I found that the poop command is a bit harder to master. With Kyara if I tell her to poop she starts the sniff and spin process which is the risky part of the operation. Indeed, any interesting smell or a delicious looking piece of grass can totally distract her and she completely forgets why she was spinning and sniffing in the first place. :rolleyes2: When the command is then repeated, she sometimes looks at me like ''Didn't I just do that???'' and we might need to walk a bit to remind her that she still needs to poop.

Keep on reinforcing that command. You are half way there!

Yes I think this round is a draw!

Snickers has the same problem with distractions. Cars, grass, wind, a car door closing 2 blocks away, a bird pooping on a tree branch.... they are all so much better than peeing/pooping! Snickers' Army is now on the run!!! I just hope there are no more hidden land mines!!! :uhoh::uhoh:

IT's a good thing I didnt wait to start training Snickers. There is currently 8 inches of snow on the ground!! :rolleyes2: I took him out this morning and he peed in the yard but no poo. So, I took him inside and ran him around a bit and took him out an hour later and he did #1 and #2!!! Im soo proud of my stubborn sheltie for not making me walk thru all the snow!!!! :biggrin2::biggrin2:

Yahoo, way to go Snickers!! Sounds like it was accomplished in the nick of time!!
Eight inches of snow at the end of October, WOW!:eek2: I can't even imagine what that's like!!!

I am shocked at the early snow fall as well. Snicky loves the snow! HE was running around like a banshee.I am very thankful that he is not holding it in. I dont know what I would do if he did. The next step is getting him to go out on his own on a long lead. He gets spooked easily so I may get him used to going out with me before I add another step to his potty ritual.

Thank You All for the support and advice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So glad things are finally working out with Snickers. I just came upon your hilarious thread, and it reminded me of something I learned on the internet the other day. Someone said they taught their dog to pee and poop in the yard, and then and only then, they took their dog for a walk. The dog could hardly wait to pee and poop to get a chance to go for it's walk. You might try that a few times, when the snows clear.
I had something similar happen to me when Buddy was first a puppy...I taught him to go pee and poop on our back wood deck, which is enclosed with a gate. I was so much easier to clear a small area of snow, and neither of us had to go very far into the snow. Then I took him on vacation...have you ever tried to find a piece of wood for your dog to go on, when your staying in a motel? He finally went on the grass about 36 hours later, but it was that way my entire vacation. He now knows how to go on the grass.

Thanks for your great humor in all of this.

Good boy, Snickers.

And "Sheltie Guy" do not forget to praise Snickers when he goes potty. To this day when Mally goes I will say, Good boy, Mally pee-pee (or) poo-poo "outside"and he will turn around and look at me like he is smiling and wag his tail.
He understands, I believe, and knows he was good.

Thanks so much for this funny thread. I am so happy for you that success came right in time for the snow fall. Good duty!!!!!!(literally).
