I am so sorry to hear about Samson, our best wishes he gets straightened out ASAP. Prayers coming.

Pogo I have never heard of that before, is it genetic, or is it something going on in the immune system? The unknown with all this stuff is the frustrating part. I am hoping for the best. Your a great mom!

We went to the vet this morning and got some better news. But first, I need to make a small correction. Samson has HYPERcalcemia, not Hypocalcemia as I first stated. :rolleyes2:

From my research and talking to the vet, the calcium levels in blood should be no higher than 11.5. Anything above 12 can damage the renal system and 13+ is an emergency and needs immediate treatment. Our first test result was a 12.6. Today, our reading was 12. We were both relieved that it did come down a good bit in just a week, so that is very promising. Along with the fact that the rest of his renal system is in great working order, made us both feel better. :smile2:

So, we decided to wait and I will monitor him and look out for other symptoms such as lethargy and appetite loss (neither of which he suffers from! :lol:) We are hoping that since he's a larger puppy and growing so fast, that his body is still trying to figure things out and will regulate itself out once his initial growth sprout period has slowed down. We go back in one month for a retest/followup.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate the well wishes and prayers from everyone here. I know that helped us today!
 
Oh that is good news. I hope that it will be just a growth spurt and he will be just fine :smile2:. I will keep him in my prayers. Please keep us updated on his progress!
 
Oh, I'm so glad to hear Pogo is improving. My sister and I were just talking about him on the drive in today! :wink2:

That's great news! Now that you know what it is, and have some baselines to measure against, you'll be able to monitor and adjust.
