So very sorry to hear this. We lost Cody to kidney disease. It is most important to keep her eating. Home cooking is the best, you can offer a variety of food to keep her interest up, and provide the correct balance of nutrients to help keep her blood levels at an acceptable level. At first, I was terrified at planning home cooked meals, but once I started doing it, it was easy. Check out dogaware.com There is lots of information about kidney disease, and information on food/receipies you can offer your dog. There is also a Yahoo group dedicated to dogs with kidney disease. Everyone there is going through the same thing as you, and can offer support and their experiences in managing this terrible disease. And of course, everyone here at Sheltie Nation will be here to help you through this. I could not have done it without their support. With proper care, prayers, and a little luck, you may be able to add years to Mazies life. Please keep in touch and let us know how you are doing.
Thank you all for your kind responses, I'll definitely look into those websites thanks. The vet only said about medication when some of her levels are raised they didn't mention anything about diuresis. I'm stressing so much over her I don't want to loose her
