Kip isn't feeling well

I am so distressed to read this post of Kip being ill. I am so sorry for you both. I certainly hope you can get into the vet quickly. I would not sleep either until a vet could see him and diagnose the issue. Virtual hugs to you both and fingers and paws crossed that Kip gets over this without surgery. In either case, we want him better as soon as possible. Stay strong... we are here for you. Please let us know as time permits how you both are doing.

Good news! Kip is feeling much better!

I kept offering him ice cubes throughout the night, and he hasn't thrown up in over 12 hours. I spent part of the night sleeping on a mattress on the floor with him, since my bed is too high for him to jump on & off. This morning he is acting almost his normal self. Wagging his tail, barking at things, & playing a little bit. I gave him some chicken broth, and he enjoyed that.

I talked to the vet this morning, and he said that I don't need to bring Kip in as long as he keeps doing well. The one thing I'm concerned about is that he hasn't pooped since yesterday morning. But the vet said that it could take 36 hours or more, and that isn't a big problem yet. I'm supposed to give him some mineral oil, and hopefully that will help.

I am soooo relieved!!!! I was ridiculously happy when he did some normal naughty things this morning - trying to steal my hair band, jumping on me.

I do wish I knew what made him sick. I feel like it was the beef tendons, because I've never given them to him before. Maybe they caused a partial blockage + upset stomach? But of course it could have been something else altogether.

He is still doing great. I gave him a bit of chicken broth and rice, and he is very hungry! I'll keep the meals small, and slowly ease back to his regular diet if all goes well. I just played a super short game of tug with him (let him win of course), and he was acting completely normal. I missed his barking yesterday. Its great to have my noisy, crazy puppy back:)
